*****GAME THREAD: West Virginia Mountaineers @ #22 Texas Longhorns*****

Herman will try to sell all of us a bill of goods that says we played the best defense yet today. He won't touch on Sam other than saying "everyone is hurt right now. There's a difference between hurt and injured"

I’ve been very negative and still am not a big CTH fan.  But to be fair:

Chris Ash was an excellent hire and our defense continues to improve steadily.  If CTH is back next year he can thank Ash.

Jay Boulware has taken embarrassing special teams and made them a strength at times

LB play has gone from atrocious to pretty good.
100% agree.  Loved the game plan going in and they stuck with it.  Same thing they did against OkSt.  I'm ok with WVU getting 300+ yards in the passing game because they had to do it on 46 or 47 attempts.  They completely took away WVU's strength which is the run game and made them one dimensional.  With that said, I wish the DBs were more solid and played the ball more, but they came through when needed (Chris Brown and BJ Foster for sure).

Starting to believe its going to become very hard for any QB to survive throwing the ball 40 plus times a game against this front 7. At least hoping the progressions continue the positive trend.

I could be way off but I'd almost bet that Bijan had more broken tackles today than all the backs combined so far this year.

Sam was off again today. He had some drops however there was at least one time he underthrew a wide open receiver which would have been 6 and a couple of more times it would have moved the chains. I'm thinking he has some kind of small nagging injury.

I honestly think this staff should consider giving Sam 2 weeks off.  Let Casey start against Kansas and see what you have in him.  Bring Sam and have him in case, but 2 weeks off for Sam would do wonders, imo.
Dam won’t go for this. He bleeds orange and it’s his last year. He will lobby to play

Think how much BS we could have avoided if Herman would have followed orders.  Texas will probably end up with a decent record this year but the image of Herman walking arm in arm with some players heading to the Capitol will be with me for a longtime.   Won’t cry if this is his last year at UT.

Does going undefeated and losing in the Big 12 championship game buy CTH another year?   Should it?
