*****Game Thread: #22 Texas @ Texas Tech Red Raiders*****

Guys, what I’m seeing is teams that are struck by parity like I have never seen it.

If you look with an unbiased view, you will see it.  In the end, I believe even the Ohio State and Georgia will be hurt by it.

in the long run it will work out, but this is what parity looks like. There is no excellence, and it sucks.
Us? Biased? Nooo...

?Hail! Hail! The gangs all here,             and it's goodbye to all the rest?

Every year, you have teams that don't measure up to their preseason hype, and others who were supposed to be bad but turned out to be quite good.

There's a lot of that this year.

This past weekend, undefeated Kansas took on undefeated Duke. This was football. When was the last time you heard "undefeated" with either team?

Tech is a better team than what prognosticators have said. Much better. They will beat some other teams they weren't supposed to this year.

OU has already got a loss well before our meeting in Dallas. K-State looked unbeatable in that game.

She's got a good point. We've got parity. Texas has the potential/talent to rise above that, but right now its just potential.

IMO, the West Virginia game will tell us which way this team will turn. They'll either rise above the rest, or they'll be just like the rest. It starts this week.

Bama game showed Texas it could play at a high level. Tech game showed Texas they can still get spanked if they don't take everything seriously.

Sorry guys but I got sidetracked by work.

Superconferences are just around the corner.  I had always thought there would be 4 s/c of 16 teams, but after looking at it further, I think we will end up with 3 conferences of 16.

I can’t work out the logistics of that, but don’t think there will be enough quality teams for more. There certainly won’t be enough quality coaching staffs, imo.

What are your thoughts?

I will disappear again on and off. There is a real teacher shortage, and some of us are beating our heads against the wall.

SHA, Sark and the team are going to have to work out a way to not let the team take any team for granted. Royal’s teams of ‘69 and ‘70 struggled with it, and they were loaded.  2005 Texas struggled with it, and they were loaded.

This team is not as complete as those teams were, not yet, but I think we can get there. We just aren’t there yet.

No let downs. That is why they play the games.

Hook ‘em!
