SignUp Now!I drank too much Bobby Burton Kool-Aid in the offseason. That group on his podcast had me thinking we were borderline elite. I love my Horns, and I’m still optimistic overall… but there are some glaring issues that certainly separate us (in a bad way) from the big boys. Here’s my top 2:Well a win is a win. Defense played good. Offense played a half. Next week will tell all
Your top 2 are inter-related. QE is great when he has a clean pocket, but needs to improve when he's getting pressured. Sark has said he's doing much better at that in practice, but now he needs to translate that into game action.I drank too much Bobby Burton Kool-Aid in the offseason. QB - I’m sorry but this is still an issue. He leaves the pocket and runs sideways at the first hint of pressure. This or gets rid of the ball in a panic. (IMHO) causes many of the badly misfired long balls. I’m still a bit curious as to why this position seems to be Quinn’s unless he is injured.
OL - Oft confused. Occasionally beaten (by Rice). Far from what I expected after the over saturation I received all offseason of Burton’s orange kool-aid.
On the positive side, the defense looks legit. Coach K is the real deal.
Much easier in a green jersey. He hasn’t been the same since BAMA IMHO. Some of these bizarre throws aren’t bad timing (like earholing Sanders), but a product of just wanting to get rid of the ball.Your top 2 are inter-related. I thought the O Line was the worst unit on the field. By far.there aren’t very many QBs that can be elite behind our line and select WRs that don’t block.
too much pressured was generated too many times by a subpar defense. We haven’t had a good line in many many years and unless some mentality changes happen, this year will be the same.
Agree. But were given a pretty good clue this week.even though it was the first game TEXAS did not live up to all the pre season hype
the RB room showed up and almost makes you want to run a 2B offense
like everyone else has said , we will find out next week if all the off season hype is real
This! Good post. So, when the Horns beat the fighting saban's in Tuscaloosa next Saturday night, will the collective Longhorn fanbase step back from the ledge? Asking for a friend.
A sooner friend shared posts from a Longhorn board saying things like, "ou pounded an Ark St team that was much better than Rice". Seriously? While we should have played better and have issues to fix, several teams struggled with first-game issues. Hopefully, CB isn't seriously hurt, AD will figure out how to block on the edge, and DJ can become the road grader we envisioned. I expect a different team to appear in primetime against Bama next week. Then again, I may be sleep-deprived after watching Wyomong remind Yormark that this conference is second-rate aside from Texas and ou.
Ark St lost badly to teams last year that Rice beat. Have to love ou logic! So, when the Horns beat the fighting saban's in Tuscaloosa next Saturday night, will the collective Longhorn fanbase step back from the ledge? Asking for a friend.

Yeah, Ark St is horrible. Rice would beat them easilyArk St lost badly to teams last year that Rice beat. Have to love ou logic!
Lots of upsets yesterday, glad we weren't one of them.
Best post I have seen, it is easy to overreact to things. There will always be a portion of every fan base that is never going to be satisfied. Season is still early, and this team is going to have a great season. I am excited for next weekends big game. So, when the Horns beat the fighting saban's in Tuscaloosa next Saturday night, will the collective Longhorn fanbase step back from the ledge? Off topic.. I am behind on radio stations even though back in Austin for past 20 years...
What is going on with 104.9 FM?? What am I missing??
No sports. Only music.
And no game.
This was the first move in next weeks chess game. I wouldn't read too much into it.Ewers still can’t throw the deep ball and we still rely too heavily on Worthy.
Oline was mediocre.
I was disappointed
