per Jason Howell Porter is committed to TCU & is not longer taking visits.

Sounds like he is gone. Good luck to him. Doesn't make much sense, but good luck. Would have at least taken a look at a better offensive team like LSU.

...this prima donna, should have never started this "silly season saga" in the first place. just be like "heard" and attend the school where your heart is...

Looks like he is going to attend the school that is heart is at, it's just not Texas. That doesn't make him a prima donna. We are hoping that Strong can flip a few recruits over to us, we shouldn't try to make it look like a kid has problems when another school takes one of our recruits.

He didn't do the twitter decommit or anything disrespectful, he called Coach Strong and told him over the phone. A lot of 18yr olds wouldn't have did that. It's a big loss, he was one of three WR's that I was hoping would stick but he didn't. I wish him the best of luck and hope that he has a great 3-5 years at TCU, just not when they are playing against UT.

Porter liked TCU to start with and his trainer wanted Porter to go to Texas. He just decided to go back to TCU

He is going with his heart.

...sorry pal, but he was never really our recruit in the first place. his heart was with tcu. but according to the latest conjecture, "his trainer wanted him to attend ut". so as i stated beforehand, just attend the school where your heart is in the first place.... and you will not have these "silly season saga's".

You are right, he wasn't our recruit when the coaching staff changed. That doesn't make him a prima dona.

I wish him well. I think he made a mistake but it's his life and he probably knows his limitations better than me?

Coach Strong said it better than anyone else I've heard. He's not worried about the decommits. His interest is in those who are coming to UT to play their football. 17 year olds have all kinds of reasons for picking a school, and change their minds about as often as some people change their underwear. It doesn't make 'em bad people, or any flakier than anyone else. Porter should go where he's comfortable, whether it's TCU, UT, or LSU...and good luck to him. He may thrive, but UT will get along just fine.

I count this as a loss.

He has been a track/basketball guy with only limited football experience - was playing AAU BBall, not 7 on 7.

Tall (6'5) with 4.43 speed and a 34" vertical.

An advantage for the basketball guys is they always know how to box out.

Some people don't like the P-word but this player has a ton of potential once he focuses on football only and gets some solid coaching.

The issue is does he have a good set of hands? No one really the answer to that yet (film below).
