El mahico

El Mahico's statement could be part of the smokescreen and reduced traffic pointing towards or away from Saban by design. We've heard Saban and Sexton weren't crazy about the Hicks boys publicizing their communications and Patterson is apparently rather adept at tightening up the leaks etc. I gotta think we'll get a helluva coach regardless and Saban would be great. I like Malzahn and Briles as well. How filthy would we be in very short order with one of those two as HC and Muschamp as our DC? One can dream right?

I dont think that El Machico's statements are a smokescreen or that Saban would have a better chance of becoming the "greatest" college coach of all time. I think he has a better chance to do so at Alabama considering he already has the talent and staff to do so as opposed to having to rebuild and recruit here in Austin. And these issue's he had at Alabama are also rumors. There has been nothing to back those up. I live in TN so im around ALOT of bammer's and their boards and forums would also have insiders but their insiders arent saying that there are any problems or that Saban or Sexton has even talked with UT since the spring. Ive had many lunch discussions with colleagues about this and Id think that their insiders would be saying at least something if there were any validity to the story. Secrets dont stay secret this day in age especially when they are other the mammoth magnitude that Saban to Texas would be. The only places that seem to be driving this story is UT sites. And if the timeline of Mack's departure is true and Alabama goes for its 3peat it really doesnt bode well for the Saban to Texas rumor.

I believe everything you referenced above, but I can't help but think that the people at Michigan State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins all more than likely thought the same thing.

If Saban is as detailed oriented as most claim he is, it would be totally against his personality to at least not kick the tires of not only the UT job, but the USC job as well since the candidate list, both college and pro, is quite impressive if you believe not only "insider" sources, but ESPN sources as well.

I don't really care who the next HC at UT is, as long as there is a change and the arrow for the athletic program starts to be pointed north.

Enlighten to me the ESPN sources I must have overlooked them? You also have to think that if he's as ego centric as people think that it would mean also that he wants to be the best while being the best. There's little to debate against the fact the SEC is indeed playing the best ball as of late and the western division in which Alabama plays is arguably the hardest division in the hardest conference. The Big 12 would be considered a downgrade to him and wouldnt help his ego if he didnt succeed like he did at Alabama.
