TCU scored the same amount of points as they did in the last Texas-TCU matchup. TCU was able to get the Longhorns in foul trouble but the lack of scoring consistency for the Horned Frogs doomed them as the Longhorns were able to hold on for a 66-54.
Turning Point of the Game
The Horned Frogs got the Longhorns lead down to 6 points but the Longhorns went on an 11-5 run to end the game and get the win. The Longhorns had the lead for most of the game and the Horned Frogs never got closer.
Player of the Game
Isaiah Taylor
Isaiah finally discovered a shot besides a lay up of a floater. He did well shooting the mid range jumper en route to 21 points and 5 assists. His ticky tack fouls were a problem for the Longhorns but almost everyone was in foul trouble for the game. Honorable mention goes to Connor Lammert who played the most minutes of his career and then had his first career double-double.
Epilogue
Another win for the Texas Longhorns in what has been an epic season for them. To all the seniors on the basketball staff and the seniors taking in their last game at the Drum as a student. Congratulations to all of you and to those students who read this board. Enjoy those moments in the student sections. Sure you can always go back as alumni but the feeling isn't the same. For the game, it was a win the Longhorns had to have and they got it. You just can't lose to TCU in the Big 12. The problem now for the Longhorns is that the Sooners beat the Mountaineers on Wednesday and will play TCU on Saturday. Anything can happen but it looks like if the Longhorns win on Saturday, they will be the 3rd seed in the Big 12. That means they will either face West Virginia, Baylor and Oklahoma State. All those teams are fighting for an NCAA bid. West Virginia plays Kansas, Baylor plays at Kansas State and Oklahoma State plays at Iowa State. Lots of tough game for the potential Quarterfinal opponents for the Longhorns. It's March Madness so fasten your seatbelts.
