I've got a date night tonight and I'm looking for a good movie to watch at home with the wife, so I'm looking for any recommendations. We don't watch movies with nudity or overly sexual themes. I would also stray away from action films on this specific evening.

We've got access to Netflix, on demand (Uverse), and there's a redbox nearby (although I've never used it).

Any recommendations are appreciated.

With your prerequisites, probably something like Casablanca will be right up y'all's alley.

Cook her some supper, watch your movie, BOOM! kid#3.

You know my thoughts on the awfulness of Casablanca, yet you continue to mock me with your recommendation. This makes me sad.

Give "The Way" a try on Netflix. It's an independent movie but it's a very good movie. Martin Sheen is fantastic.

You could also give "The Intouchables" a try on Netflix. One of my favorite movies of all time. It's a foreign film, but it will make you laugh and cry.

What makes us sad is that it is a GREAT movie. . . .

Your taste runs to animated though.. . .

Which likely means you would hate Kevin Spacey's passion piece. . .Under the Sea . ..a great movie and his tribute to Bobby Darrin. . .

Keeping it in the music bio theme. . .Reese Witherspoon and Joquinn Phoenix were outstanding in Walk the Line. . . .

In Good Company

That Thing You Do

Going old school. . .Bridges of Toko Ri    William Holden and Grace Kelly

All fun "date night" movies but they all involve real acting, plots.. .weird crap like that so I'm going to suggest the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie for you .. .

:P

It would steer clear of Bridge of Toko Ri, you've got to compromise with your wife. Which is exactly why I suggest you take the bull by the horns (as you appear to be doing) lest you be stuck parked in front of a "chick flick" with the accompanying box of kleen-ex by your side.

For a VERY underrated flick that would entertain you both (a little manly, a little chick flick) would be "Tristan and Isolde" which is set in early times England/Ireland right after the Romans vacated. It's not new. I discovered it by accident a few weeks ago and truly enjoyed it. My wife did as well.

CLUELESS!!!!!!!

So funny!  I recently re-watched the movie and caught jokes I didn't understand back in the day.

Seen this?  http://vimeo.com/33240137

Seriously:

You know I like offbeat indies with a great script so....

Ever seen "Grosse Point Blanke?" Love story at it's heart, but one of the funniest films, uh, ever.

Have you seen "Harold and Maude" yet. It was one of the first great true indie films. Again, at it's heart a love story yet hysterical. kinda twisted, just keep an open mind and remember, it's a movie.

Ever seen "Roxanne?" Might be more your speed.

Last weekend I lost a bet to my wife and had to watch Dr Zhifago from start to finish. All three and a half hours worth. Ugh.

It's been a loooong time since I've seen it. Decent story. Beautiful cinematography. Some really bad acting though. I couldn't help to chucckle at all the Russians with British accents. I know it was a directorial choice but comeon! Also. The movie's theme, Laura's Theme, is iconic, but, it's FRENCH!!! What. You'ld hear at a corner Bistro in Paris. It just not very Russian and it's throughout the movie.

However, Julie Christie was hooooot! On a frigid set.

So cheese didn't even have the decency to tell us which one he picked? We're supposed to be able to sleep now?
