Per Jeff Howe Riser will transfer to Sam Houston State.

Nice pickup for my Bearkats. They got pushed around by NDSU and desperately needed to get bigger on both lines. This should help give UAB transfer QB Jeremiah Briscoe a little more time to get rid of the ball.

The offensive line definitely got bigger with Riser. Dude needs to drop about 50 pounds though or he won't be able to play 2 or 3 plays in a row. I saw him on the sideline during the TCU game and I can't understand how he's that out of shape.

I don't have a problem with players leaving (not everyone can be happy) but it really sucks that it's players from positions that are a huge need. Not saying the two players that left would of been super impacts but still...

FYI, Howe didn't break the story. Riser announced it on his Instagram and it took off from there.

<sigh>Kids these days!<sigh>

Offensive line is a need position, but I would honestly rather see one of the young guys get some reps over Riser. Even if there's struggles next year on the offensive line at least those guys are getting experience. I think everyone knows what we were getting with Riser. Maybe Riser would be an upgrade over some of the younger guys for a year, but there's no upside with him. At best, Rise is a plug in player. I would rather us develop some guys on the offensive line that can be more than just "plug in players". We will have some bodies next year on the offensive line, which is essentially all Riser was.

Got the right guy to develop them.

Wasn't Riser the highest ranked 4* in Mack's class that year?
I believe so.

I saw DeSoto play Longview in Longview during Riser's senior year. I left wondering what we had seen in him. Longview was in the backfield by the time he got out of his stance.
