Curious what you folks think about this school going to a "Power" conference

UTSA.

Granted they are VERY young as a football program, but in just three seasons theyve moved into C-USA are a a respectable 4-5 with a legit shot at 6-6. The Alamodome isnt great, but they (legitimately) bring in on average 5 or 6 times the number of fans TCU does.

They play in a large market as the only FBS program within 40 miles, unlike TCU which plays near several.

If someone like the ACC wanted to get a big footprint in Texas, bringing them on gets you about 750,000 sets in the TV market plus games in front of Texas recruits you dont have strong current access to.

Their basketball facility is pure ass and would have to be addressed, but if its about money and brand expansion, they are a school which has to be at least considered.

Im aware academics do play a part, and they are rapidly improving there, making a push to get to Tier 1 status.

Same case can be made for Big12 adding UCF.

If ACC or more likely Pac want to get into Texas they can definitely look at UTSA. I would think UH would get a look bc they are much more established in sports and academic.

I think Texas State should get a look ahead of them. They are 6-3 in their second year in D1 and Fran has done a very good job at that program...again.

Good thoughts guys. My thing with Texas State ever going that route would be their proximity to Austin.

UTSA also has a nice campus. Coker is doing one hell of a job. If they join a major conference they have access to some nice venues for their teams w/ a little help from the city.

San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the USA. I don't see why UTSA cannot end up in a Super Conference?

BTW, UTSA is the faster growing school in Texas. UTSA already has the enrollment numbers Tech has.

I think Texas State should get a look ahead of them. They are 6-3 in their second year in D1 and Fran has done a very good job at that program...again.

It will be interesting to watch both of those programs...Football will not be the only sport that could be enticing for other conferences..

No, but then UCLA has at least 5 decades of athletic history on UTSA.
