Granted they are VERY young as a football program, but in just three seasons theyve moved into C-USA are a a respectable 4-5 with a legit shot at 6-6. The Alamodome isnt great, but they (legitimately) bring in on average 5 or 6 times the number of fans TCU does.
They play in a large market as the only FBS program within 40 miles, unlike TCU which plays near several.
If someone like the ACC wanted to get a big footprint in Texas, bringing them on gets you about 750,000 sets in the TV market plus games in front of Texas recruits you dont have strong current access to.
Their basketball facility is pure ass and would have to be addressed, but if its about money and brand expansion, they are a school which has to be at least considered.
Im aware academics do play a part, and they are rapidly improving there, making a push to get to Tier 1 status.
