Crossfire with McPhaul - 11/13/2013

Does everyone understand that the assistant coaches are the recruiting foot soldiers and the HC is simply the closer? Should Saban actually come here, does anyone have a clue who his assistants will be? And, if you do have an idea who they would be, do you know if they have any kind of relationship with the Texas high schools HC's, much less the recruits and their parents themselves?

You see the problem, even if Saban comes here? Recruiting takes time - even for Saban.

Ah ha! Curiosity got the best of you, huh Doc?
LOL - it did. In addition I wanted to see who McPhaul is and his "sources". He and zzzz, of IT, have made bold and outrageous assertions that Saban is 100% confirmed to be coming to Texas. This even surpasses Jesus's claim of a 75% chance he is coming.

All of the reporters have delivered their messages based on "sources", "inside info", "BMD's", "connected friends", ad infinitum. The truth is, without clear cut evidence and names, it is all simply hearsay. No matter how much we want to believe the reporters and messengers are right, the fact is NO ONE has conclusive evidence that Nick Saban intends to be our next head coach.

And the fact is, this situation has not changed any from the first reports last year.

Another truth is, that we all seem to want to overlook, is there is no head coach opening at UT. Furthermore, in spite of all the "behind the scenes" scuttlebutt, there is no indication there will BE an opening anytime in the near future. All the rumors of Mack Browns demise have been just that - unsubstantiated rumors.

This is todays reality because we, the general public, have nothing to hang our hats on except simply hearsay.

And, IMO, that ain't good enough.

Doc, you MAY want to jump back onto the IT board. JS made a whopper of a post tonight.

It's too much specific info for it to not be 100%, McPhaul. Great reporting. I only hope that Mack gets his ride off into the sunset and a smooth transition stepping down. I'm not happy with the job he has done since 2010 but he did do enough to deserve a parting moment. That being said I hope it's a fast ride and Saban's ride from Tuscaloosa to Austin is even faster.

You'd think if it was 100% there would be some sort of rumblings from those bammers. Saban to Austin is nothing more than a hits generator until something substantial comes out that states otherwise. I do think mack is gone but I highly doubt that the next coach has been chosen/hired.
