So if we have the power to control ALL CFB conferences maybe the phrase “We’re Back” will never be applicable.

What an article full of butt hurtedness! LOL! IDK...while I do understand the (that's the way it's been) angle and while I also get other schools within the state absolutely depend on revenue that Texas generates, I also understand why Texas would move to the SEC and actually dig the changes that will result from the move.

Imagine being where we are today, if Texas hadn't made the move last summer. In other words, if we had stood pat and then had USC and UCLA drop this bombshell. 

I thought last year that it was smart of Texas (and OU) to be the first dominoes in major realignment and guarantee our spot in one of the strongest conferences moving forward. Had we waited, we would now be trying to scramble out of the BIg 12 (or trying to take the remaining strong Pac 12 candidates) for the Big10 or SEC without much leverage.

When aggy starts competing for and winning desirable recruits with UT bc of an SEC badge, it's time to move on. Especially when ESPN will double our media rights payouts. It's really a no-brainer for us.

I'd much rather be in the SEC than the B1G or PAC.

This , plus besides more money we end up with a much more compelling schedule,  including restoring games with 2 of our biggest rivals

I thought so and agree. Better to see how this works before going further. You don't want a conference that kills itself before the post-season . . . or gets watered down with too many, like the Mountain West or whatever conference did  years ago.

Also, how many brands out there would carry their weight if added to the SEC? Seems like we would be overpaying for most any additions.

Richard Justice was an idiot when he wrote for the Houston Chronicle and it doesn't look like he's changed with age. It's been a looong time since I read that fish wrap but if I recall correctly he seemed to take joy in slamming the Astros, Rockets, Oilers and the Longhorns. Don't remember anything he wrote about the other Texas schools because I never really cared what anyone had to say about them. He's the only sportswriter I can think of who made Dale Robertson (also a Chronicle sportswriter) sound rational.

It will be interesting to see how the state of California  board of regrets rescts to the move by UCLA. They are part of the UC boards of regrets and no one other than the president of UCLA knew of the move. Now UCLA is currently $100+ million in debt and this move with help offset the debt, but the "woke/broke/=joke" board and  state government wants some of this money.   

Plus, the "woke+broke+=joke" state government has a new bill that most likely will passed and signed that the colleges in California that have men's,women's, and football will give those that sign with these teams and stay with the teams and get a degree of some kind within 6 years gets a part of the revenue from the 3 sports. So, a football player from USC prior to the move could get $600,000+ after the degree after 6 years.

I read an article this morning where Gavin Newsome, the president of the UC BOR, is leading a counter offensive against UCLA for moving without telling them apparently.

They intend to quash this.
