This game scares me. It scares me because its at their house, we're pretty weak on the road and inconsistent in general. And Kansas played TCU to the wire earlier this year.

I am going to be cautiously optimistic here . . .

Texas 54

Kansas 34

Keep it simple Texas and just hand the ball off to Foreman 75% of the offensive plays. Make them stop our running attack and just grind them down. Even if Texas overlooks this game they have enough talent to win by a comfortable margin.  I will add that if it is windy in Lawrence which is known to happen this time of year then it will have a dramatic effect on our passing game as Buechele does not have the arm strength at this stage in his career to throw into the wind.

Texas 42   Kansas 10

I won't predict the score but I will tell you what I think needs to happen:

  1. Horns DOMINATE the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense
  2. Foreman 200+ yards rushing
  3. ZERO turnovers
  4. Horns score 50+ points and win by more than 30
Anything less will be disappointing...but that's just my humble opinion.  Having said that, if only #4 happens I could live without the first 3.

Ks 28    UT 26.    3 blocked Horn FG's and 7 personal foul/unsportsmanlike penalties doom the Horns making the TCU game a "must win" for bowl game eligibility.

28-24 Texas. We narrowly escape with the win. Gilbert tries to give the game away AGAIN. This coupled with all the other issues we continue to see make this an embarrassingly close game.

Besides UTEP, Kansas has the most putrid offense Texas will face.

Would not surprise me if Texas held Kansas to single digits. If Kansas somehow scores 20 or more, that would mean that the Texas defense had a very bad day.

Offensively, Texas should have a minimum of 30 points by halftime and end up with 50+. And 60 points is not out of the question.

This is what should happen.

And before the TCU game it will be declared on forums around Austin that "Charlie Strong may be coaching for his job."
Surely the "powers that be" aren't that dense. TCU will probably lost to OkieSt this week and that would mean Charlie would be coaching for his job against a team that is 5-5. If that were really the case, that is just sad beyond words.

UT wins but not very impressively, 35-20.  Sets up the TCU game as opportunity to "right the ship".  A 5-5 TCU team arrives (I agree with NTG) but its the TCU against Baylor squad and beats UT easily as Strong and company look confused.  UT goes to the Converse Sneaker Bowl in Poughkeepsie against Eastern Michigan Steak and barely wins.  UT admin decides to keep Strong one more year since there was "progress and a winning season" and many UT fans go postal.  Oh and Herman goes to LSU, wins national championship 2 years later.

My post was more a friendly jab at my fellow posters here.  It seems like I have heard before every game this year that "CS may be coaching for his job in this game."

My contention has been for some time (and if I am not mistaken, you agree) that minus something catastrophic, CS is, was, and will be back next year.  He simply won't be let go after three seasons.

And... while yes I agree that .500 is "catastrophic" at a University like Texas, that will not get a coach run after three seasons here, particularly one who runs a clean, disciplined (off the field) program.

I believe that a .500 record WILL get CS run after season #4 (NTG - we may disagree here)... but all this "will he be fired" discussion is just fun for us.  It isn't even a possibility this year.
