People really think we are getting Saban, I could understand the first time but reall? Come on guys. Would I like Saban, yes. Would he win, yes. But he will be gone in a few years and we are left in this position looking for a coach again. We need to find a young coach and restock the program. I honestly doubt Saban, control freak he is that he wants big money/ political infighting around him. Same thing with Jim harbaugh, if he's not happy with 49'ers management why would he like ours?

Why would you not take Saban for a few years and then deal with looking for a new coach later on?

Because how long is it gonna take for him to build this team up? Talent is not that high. Young talent at I line and wr. D line and db should be the biggest red flag in the world. Running back will be an iffy situation also, plus our qb situation.

so if Texas hires say Art Briles you are going to call Patterson a disaster? What if he hires someone you dont like, yet that coach ends up winning at Texas...will Patterson still suck? based on the other thread it seems only a few guys can satisfy you, and any other coach out there is not worthy. Even someone like Charlie Strong may not be the message board posters first choice, but nationally he's considered a strong coach, and mentioned often lately by analysts as being a hire that would be good for Texas. Nationally the perception and reviews wont agree with you

I don't know Chip. I won't pay for a service that has proven to have no more accuracy than my own opinion or that of those who offer it for free. I find any place that expects payment for dispersing inaccurate information intentionally as a mouthpiece of certain groups in exchange for a 3 hour lead on scoops, borderline unethical.

The recent trend is that Chip doesn't know crap, and I could just as well put forth an opinion and have a similar chance of being accurate.

That being said, if we are down to those candidates then I am disappointed with the Patterson hire. But I still believe that Saban, Harbaugh and Fisher are very much in play.
