Chip Brown burning up the airwaves

he's playing his role well in this situation I think

someone is clearly telling Chip to report this on the most visible UT website. There is always an agenda behind that

Thats just it, is he pushing agenda or spilling truth. Who knows at this point. Im pretty well confused

it could be true. multiple are saying its not but who knows

either way to put this out there now...right before the Alamo Bowl and just when the Saban talk is starting to heat up again is curious to me. Even if true I think there is an agenda as to why someone wants this out right now

Chip is getting is information from Kirk Herbstreit.
I think Chip is getting info from someone he trusts, it doesn't make it right but he believes it.

Like someone said, in 10 or 12 days we will know what is up, until then its all speculation.

Its possible that there is an ongoing war on the inside about who to take, many of the BMD's wanting Saban and others wanter Fisher, thus competing narratives from different insiders.

Its funny, my friend on the inside has shut off all info regarding the coaching search. 2 wks ago it was like a dam broke when the civil war was going on regarding Powers, Mack , Regents, and the BMD's, in the past 10 days it is stone quiet.

Just as someone on the outside of this part, I am hopeful for Saban but would be happy with Jimbo.

Chip Brown may be saying that but I need to remind everyone that OB also castigated and mocked anyone who dared post that we had talks with Sexton re: Saban back in January. Yet today we all know it is given knowledge that those conversations did indeed take place. Furthermore, McPhaul has stated that Mack Brown has been out since the BYU game. The BMD's had seen enough and were disgusted. In contrast, the folks at OB were claiming that that was not the case at all. I don't think they are necessarily knowingly trying to carry the out the agenda of who they are getting their information from (as McPhaul will tell you: everyone has their own agenda). I do think that their information comes from relationships with folks with more inner-workings at Bellmont whereas a lot of the information that you see here comes from the people financing the turkey shoot. I like to compare it to the rich boy with the nice BMW and the daddy that actually makes the payment on the rich boy's BMW. Who really is in control? Daddy of course! Same with what's going on right now with our HC Search. At this point the "daddys" have had enough and are in control not the kids.

Yes I know that Chip also gets information from Steve Hicks. After the way things went down with Hicks the last time around with Saban, do you actually believe that he is going to spill his guts on anything pertaining to Saban this tme around? Probably not!

Finally, on to what I've been told. Just like what Hornsports posted yesterday, the figures have been agreed upon however Saban wants to make sure that there is a "firewall" in place between Mack and himself before taking the gig. The BMD's are happy right now with Mack's behavior because Mack himself is creating his own firewall. If his actions don't change quickly then it will be some time before he is welcome back around the program.

I like the fact that people are putting their credibility on the line and making strong statements. If they believe in the quality of their work, they should make clear and unequivocal statements regarding their analysis of the information presented them. I'm indifferent as to who the coach is as long as he is the right guy, but in some ways I hope it's Saban, just to harpoon Chip as a shill for Bellmont and help inaugurate a new era or reporters who work to build stories. We all hope to see major changes in the program and I am unquestionably on the record for wanting changes in the personnel and strategies Texas employs to relate to the media. Out with the old and in with the new should be the new motto of the program leading up to the 2014 season. A recognized new reporter and a recognized old shill would be a good start to making that motto reality.

Remember this about Chip:

He stated that he was given his story about Mack retiring by his source in order to push Mack to retire quickly. That was his statement. That proves that there is a purpose behind what he is reporting.

You decide what the purpose of his current report is.

I like the way you think, and I choose to believe this!!!

Patterson is locking down the athletic department. He is not allowing any information to come out. I'd be willing to bet any information that does come out of the athletic department is going to be exactly what Patterson wants to come out. If Saban is the guy, why not have Chip Brown blast it everywhere that he's out in order to keep everyone off the trail?

Nothing is going to leaked that Patterson doesn't want leaked. Guys like Chip and Bobby are going to be told what he wants them to say. The more Chip goes on and on about Saban being a dead subject, the better I feel about it.

SG,

Appreciate the input.

JS mentioned late last night that he knows of some BMDs that are beyond angry w/Mack's latest AAS ploy out of concern this might be the sequel to banquet weekend. Sounds like you're saying the opposite will happen.

Whatever Mack does to spoil Saban coming won't deter but rather ensure it.

Am I getting that right?

Gracias.

Saban is a smart man. Having a firewall or some way to keep Mack the F away has to be done. It is obvious Saban wants to be here but Mack is trying to mess it up. Imagine what kind of recruits we could be pulling in right now if Mack wasn't being Mack. Saban would already be here and doing his best to save this class.
