Cedric Benson

Benson would always walk back to the huddle real slow like as if he could go no further.

I've never understood the fascination with Ramonce Taylor......even the video above showing him running out the end zone wasn't anything that literally 100s of other RBs couldn't do. I thought he was a GOOD football player but not great. And so far as "blazing speed"....not sure where that idea came from. Personally I think it's one of the myths that got repeated over and over until it became accepted as gospel. He ran a 4.5 at the combine.

Of course, I know I'm posting this at my own peril because he was obviously a very popular player ....especially with the fans in the 18-30 years old range. I liked him...thought he was fun to watch...saw him make a few plays that made me say wow....but his overall body of work was nothing to write home about. I know that many will point out that this is just my opinion, and I understand that.

Taylor actually got invited to the combine, didn't remember that! The fascination lies more in unrealized potential. Knucklehead factor reared it's ugly head. I had always heard he was at least a 4.4 guy coming out of high school. 4.5 sounds fairly impressive for a dude who was booted from the team and probably curtailed his training with the loss of structure.

Benson never quite lived up to the hype surrounding him coming out of high school but he experienced a lot of success at UT. Hated to see the off the field issues he had in the NFL. Wasn't he recently DJ'ing at the Yellow Rose too????
Benson was a real "aggie killer"...had terrific games against them. Unfortunately, he was a disappointing 0-4 against OU.

0-3 against OU because of Mack Browns rule prohibiting freshman from playing against OU.
