Casey Thompson Sets Decision Date

Moore (OK) quarterback Casey Thompson has reportedly set his decision date for April 13th, and Longhorns are squarely in the mix for the four star quarterback's commitment.

I recently said I flipped by CB pick for Thompson back to Texas from an earlier pick to UNC and I'm feeling good about where things stand between Thompson and the Longhorns.

Thompson's father is set to make a trip to Austin to visit with the coaching staff this weekend while Casey attends a 7 on 7 tournament in New Orleans.

Could this trip be the final seal of approval? We will find out next Thursday at 1:30.

He's in a very good position to recruit several Texas targets. He's always wanted to get his decision done early so he can take the leadership position.

Do these targets respect Thompson's skills and leadership enough to increase their interest in Texas?

You see this kid play and he just looks like a Tom Herman type QB.  If he commits to UT, OU going out of state and obtaining a verbal from the kid from CA sets up an intriguing scenario where Thompson, who played literally down the road from Norman, beats OU on Saturdays with Stoops knowing that the kid played HS ball a 20 minute drive from campus.  Certainly would add a fun historical note to the rivalry if it played out that way.

They do. A lot of the targets liked Texas plenty regardless of Thompson. This won't hurt.

I liked his tape and he's a definitely a playmaker on the field. I wasn't too happy with his side arm throwing motion. What's your opinion on him Daniel?

Think he is comparable to Buechele in the vein hat he is smart, heady, high floor quarterback. While he can move around a bit and has some athleticism I wouldn't classify him as a guy that is going to kill a defense with his wheels from what I saw on tape. As I said before I wonder about his ability to push the ball down the field as he doesn't really do it a ton on tape, but he makes quick decisions, gets the ball out quickly, and is precise in the short and intermediate passing game.
