Brewer from Tech transferring

Scout and ESPN show he never received an offer from UT coming out of HS, whereas Rivals does. Does anyone know whether we offered him?
I don't think he received a UT offer, but I'm not 100% sure

After what Tech is doing to Mayfield, I hope they get screwed over big time. I wish they would lose several scholarships for screwing over a kid without a scholarship. Brewer must be smart if he is graduating already. I was thinking he was sophomore or something like that. Don't follow Tech that closely.

The BeingReal guy was reporting positive news a couple days ago about a QB, wonder if this is it?

I thought I remember Texas offering him as a gray shirt, which Brewer obviously declined (not sure I blame him).

Wow. Saw this kid play in high school, he's the real deal. Somebody is about to get a good QB. Wonder if Tech will put a Big 12 restriction on him?
he's graduating in May. not sure a Big 12 restriction would apply since he'd be a grad student, but will admit i don't know for sure.

he'd be a nice guy to have on the team IMO.

third generation Longhorn QB if so.

So long as he graduates, Tech nor the NCAA have any say in what he chooses to do. Like you, I'd like to see him in Austin.

I think he has 2 years of eligibility left. And if he graduates, no restrictions on when he can actually play. Gilbert played at SMU from day one, didn't he?

Could really help our qb situation, perhaps he sees it too

Yeah, Gilbert had a medical hardship waiver that allowed him to play right away.

Definitely, I like Heard and Swoopes but I think Brewer would be my leading QB candidate going into the 2014 Season.

Yeah, Gilbert had a medical hardship waiver that allowed him to play right away.
I thought Gilbert graduated extremely quickly and enrolled in graduate school at SMU, and that's how he played immediately—not a medical hardship. Am I wrong?

Actually the extra year of eligibility came from having an injury and having surgery after only playing a game and a half or so in 2011. Thus he got a medical redshirt yr from that

He was able to play without sitting at SMU because he graduated UT, then enrolled SMU into a grad program not offered at UT. That is how the rule reads. It's how Russell Wilson played his last yr at Wisconsin after coming from NCSU and did not have to sit a yr.

I agree that he will help the qb situation, a lot

I didn't think so but I could be wrong. I know that he did apply for a medical hardship. You wouldn't think he'd do that unless he didn't have a choice.

There is this:

But then there is this:

Burton told us all that we had a great shot at a transfer QB for months now. He wouldn't name him until the kid was ready, that day was today. He says he thinks we still end up with Brewer even though Mack is gone.
I hope Bobby is right, big news!

I actually like our chances. His dad and granddad were both Longhorns. And he's got a decent opportunity to start day one if he transferred here.
Dad is a great guy, got to visit with him and asked him about his son. . .his comment. . .he can go to any of 3 schools. . .TEXAS. . .TEXAS. . .TEXAS

Understand the son wanting to take his own path but great opportunity for him here. . . .

I believe it's been known since before their bowl game that he was going to transfer, and possibly earlier since that's when I learned of it. At that time his most likely destination was ASU—ironically their bowl opponent. That may have since changed, but yes it's apparently happening. The report was Tech declined to offer him a scholarship.
Not trying to attack, but Brewer WAS on scholarship...Mayfield was the QB w/o a scholarship. There were reports of Brewer looking to leave TTU if Webb beat him out during bowl workouts.
