Big 12 Expansion Project

Typical politician administrator screw ups go gung ho on expansion, then quibble, waffle, and back stab.
It will be fun to see OU cut off their collective nose to spite their face by joining the S E C! But, maybe they do have a B1G invite in their pocket? Will the OK state legislature allow them to abandon little brother, OSU? Stay tuned...

I may be in the minority, but I'd like to see UT push to bring the band back together for SWC 2.0 rather than joining another league. I just can't see us playing 2nd fiddle to anybody else. We're Texas, by God!  \m/

TCU to the Pac-16 instead of Tech is feasible, I guess. Better market and travel to DFW. However, it's probably unlikely when you consider that every university in the current Pac is secular with no affiliation to a church.

But, UH to the SEC is pure fantasy. UT is the only other TX school they'll accept, IMO. Neither A&M nor LSU is likely to sign off on their addition.

Call me crazy, but I actually like the revamped Big 8 at the end of EDBS's article. Only 7 league games and greater flexibility to schedule meaningful OOC? Sign me up

even there this bozo brought up the phantom longhorn/ag rivalry.

what is the deal that people who never gave two shits about that game when it was extant seem thoroughly crushed that they no longer have it to not give two shits about?

What does OU's likely "no" mean for the league?
probably close to nothing because expansion wasn't likely whatever this hump-free dumpling had to say.  i think the whole exercise might have simply been a florid display of this dipwad's testudinal fortitude.

Yeah, and it pisses me off that the Big 12 went through the trouble of hiring media consultants, analysts, interviewing 20+ "candidates", and God knows what else to assuage this okie jerk-off. What a waste of time and resources! Makes all of us look indecisive and dysfunctional. This all could've been done behind the scenes much more quietly.

But, for what it's worth, I think staging a Big 12 Championship game after a full round-robin schedule is ridiculous. Pro rata increase for potential additions was just gravy. Adding teams and splitting into divisions made sense if you believe the consultants' and analysts' reports.

Oh, well

Stanford says hello.

The Big 12 will likely announce at their next meeting that it will not expand at this time. And the conference will be the laughing stock of the nation.

OU's Boren got this thing started back in January, making all kinds of threats if the conference didn't expand. Now, the very same guy doesn't want expansion?

And this complete turnaround came seconds after he realized there would be no conference network?
