This was posted at 247, and I thought it was a good read. Figured I would post over here.
Spring signing period has yet to begin, but here is a recap of the changes to expect for next year. For more info on the recruits, you might want to look at the old recruiting thread here.

Baylor
Losses: Jefferson, Heslip, Franklin, and maybe Austin.
Gains: Motley (redshirted), Freeman (redshirted after injury), Medford (JUCO pg), Durham (SG), Maston (PF)
Of interesting note is the fact Heslip might ask for a waiver of the 5 year rule. He joined Boston College in December, 2009, didn't play, then sat out 2010-11 as a transfer. He has played only 3 seasons, but his five year clock expires in December. Freeman, Motley, and Medford should be good contributors right away.
Iowa State
Losses: Ejim, Kane, Palo
Gains: Abdel Nader (transfer from N. Ill.); Jameel McKay (transfer from Marquette), Custer (PG)
Custer won't supplant Mr. NCAA record 5.4 a/t Monte Morris at the point. Nader is a do everything forward. McKay is a guy who went to a JC, signed with Marquette, took financial aid, enrolled, then transferred to ISU without playing. He'll have the best combination of length and athleticism for ISU when he gets to play, which won't be until December unless the NCAA grants some kind of waiver.
Kansas
Losses: Wiggins, Embiid (probably), Black, Selden (maybe)
Gains: Oubre, Alexander
Yawn. Lose a couple of top 3 draft picks, gain a couple of top 10 prospects. The questions are whether Embiid's back will have him wait a year and whether Selden chooses to come out now. Of course, there are two former top 50 prospect types (Greene and White) sitting around waiting for a turn at the sg/sf spots to fill out a 9 deep rotation with Ellis, Tharpe, Alexander, Oubre, Traylor, Mason and Frankamp.
Kansas State
Losses: Southwell, Spradling, Lawrence
Gains: Justin Edwards (transfer from Maine), Stephen Hurt (top JUCO big man), Tre Harris
Making do with the second tier of recruits is a way of life in Manhattan. Hurt is a very strong post player, though. For all his 16.7 points per game in 2012-13, Edwards is a career .270 three point shooter, but he might thrive in a complex offense designed to get cutters to the basket.
Oklahoma
Losses: Clark, Neal
Gains: Lattin, Buford, McNeace
Lattin will be OU's answer to Karviar Shepherd--a guy with advanced defensive skills, but needing work on offense. I wonder if Jarion Henry, JUCO F, is still committed to OU, and if the offer is still open. His Cerritos JC page says he wants to transfer to OU, but OU did just sign 2 HS 4s and 5s and a high school combo forward. Buford is the only guy in the present class who looks to assume any kind of scoring load, so expect OU to rely more heavily on guards for points than any maybe any other team in the Big 12.
Oklahoma State
Losses: Smart, Brown, Cox
Gains: Terrell, Burton, Solomon, Newberry, Jeff Carroll (redshirted)
OSU has a great class coming in with the top JC point guard and 3 consensus top 100 hs players. That doesn't offset losing Marcus Smart and Markel Brown, but OSU will also get Cobbins back, and it is in the seven finalists for Turner.
TCU
Losses: Jarvis Ray
Gains: Abron, Durley (both injured this year), Trey Ziegler and Chris Washburn (transfers who sat this year), Chauncey Collins
TCU will improve mostly via depth on the front line. Ziegler didn't like being on the bench for Pitt after starting and starring for Central Michigan for two years. He should get a lot of minutes for TCU. TCU should be able to win some games next year.
Texas
Losses: None (Croaker?)
Gains: Jordan Barnett
Jordan Barnett is exactly the kind of player the 2012-13 team could have used--a SF with perimeter skills and some length.
Texas Tech
Losses: Crockett, Kravic, Williams, Tapsoba
Gains: Gray, Smith, Evans, Norense Odiase, and JUCOs Justin Jamison and Devaugntah Williams
It's almost like a Billy Gillispie offseason with all the roster moves. Jamison and Williams are teammates at Missouri State-West Plains. Odiase is a beast who could be a very good player after a couple of years of conditioning. Either Ross and Foster improve a lot by next year or Odiase and Jamison had better be ready to contribute right away or Tolbert is going to feel pretty overwhelmed on the front line next year for Tech.
West Virginia
Losses: None (Staten?)
Gains: Jonathan Holton, Elijah Macon (two excellent players who were academically ineligible this year), Daxter Miles, Jevon Carter
WVU stands to gain more than any other Big 12 team by the addition of Holton and Macon. If Staten doesn't try to leave, WVU gets the front line players it so sorely lacked this year.
Big names still out there
Turner--Texas, Kansas, OSU
JaQuan Lyle--Kansas, OSU
Josh Cunningham--ISU, OU
