How was the Wisconsin coach to blame?  He called a timeout because Michigan was in a full court press when the game was decided.  Michigan still had their starters in the game, Wisconsin had their reserves in the game.  Michigan presses slaps the ball out of bounds with 4 seconds to get over the line.  The Wisconsin coach called timeout to reset the 10 second clock.  Juwan is 100% to blame; you can't blame the Wisconsin coach for calling timeout if you're still pressing.  If you stop pressing the point guard dribbles the ball until time expires.

If you're still in the full court press at that point of the game, you put your big boys on, shut up and walk off the court.  Cause its all on you.
Howard didn't want to shake hands. Wisconsin coach grabs his arm/elbow. Howard tells him not to touch him and tries to continue to walk off. Wisconsin coach keeps talking and impending Howard from passing by. It escalates from there. If he just lets Howard do a "blow by" which all coaches are familiar with, the altercation does not happen.

Did you see and hear what Howard said right before he was touched?  He said “I’ll remember that” in a threatening manner. He wasn’t in any way trying to just walk by. When Gard touched him after Howard said that, Howard didn’t try to keep walking off he started wagging his finger in his face and pushing his chest.

I agree EXCEPT the cat Howard punched was NOT the coach who grabbed his arm...
True... Howard played in the NBA for a long time. Aim was not his strong suit. Lol... But seriously, you're right, but I don't think it gets to that point if Gard doesn't grab him.

Yes, I heard what he said. More to my point. Why grab a guy when he's already agitated? Again, Howard was completely wrong and should receive a harsh penalty. My point is Gard initiated it by grabbing him.

Juwan was incensed he lost the game. So he ran a full court press with his starters down 20 with 15 seconds to play and was pissed that the team playing his walkons called a time out.  Gard was equally pissed Juwan was running the full court press. Only one handled his anger without resorting to slapping a different coach over his own players and running away.

I coached and played a bit of basketball.  If I was Gard, I would have been pissed. If Juwan wanted the game to end with no timeouts he should have conceded the game and stopped running the press. We shouldn’t enable someone like that.

^ This.

And I believe the time out came with a minute or so to play, to get those scrubs in the game.

I think thats what pissed off Howard, that his team had to play scrubs like some bottom-dweller team would see. And thats too damned bad. Howard needs to grow up. If he doesn't like that situation, field a better basketball team then.

Yes, he deserves a suspension. But he also deserves legal scrutiny as well.

Who is enabling anybody? We can talk unwritten rules all day. AGAIN, Howard was wrong, but Gard escalated everything by grabbing Howard.

Thats irrelevant. Howard struck someone else. Like Whitlock said, if Howard were white, he'd already have charges against him filed by now.

Not even Howard is saying he was grabbed. He's saying he was touched, which is what it looked like to me on the clip.

So I guess that makes it ok?
Oh hell no. Quite the opposite.

When you claim someone touched you, then you hit someone else, that's evidence of the presence of a mental issue.

And again I say, there's a legal thing here and it was caught on video.

Seriously doubt any charges will be pressed. He's been suspended and he will have to deal with all the circumstances that come as a result of his actions.

Whether charges are filed or not remains to be seen.

You or I get caught on camera hitting someone, we're in trouble.

What little of what I've seen, they need to stop giving the ball to Jones at the three point line.

Defense has ratcheted up and Jone is scoring on drives to the basket.
