I like this years group better than last year. More balanced and we have some size at the wing. If they can gel, could be a fun fun year.

We beat TCU in a closed scrimmage over the weekend. 80-52.

We had five players score double digits. Very promising play though TCU isn't as good as they were last year.

We take on Colorado in another closed scrimmage on Oct. 26. This will be the final scrimmage before the season begins.

The highlights we posted looked great! I know you can clip anything to make it look good but the vibes seemed immaculate.

All reports are Tre Johnson is a badass who will be the needed playmaker for this squad.

Top 40 ranked PF prospect nationally John Clark (Klein Cain) committed to Texas over Houston. Kansas and Texas A&M.

He is 6-foot-9, and 210-pounds with an 84 inch wingspan and is rated as a 4-star.

He is the first member of the 2025 class, which is expected to only have two commitments from the HS ranks.

First game of the season is on TV tonight (TNT)!

No. 19 Texas vs. Ohio State

ESPN BPI: Texas 69.6%
Time: 9 p.m. CST
TV: TNT
Where: T-Mobile Arena (18,000) in Las Vegas

Horns having trouble finding their groove. Ohio State leads 31-18 in the 1st (7:20).

We are not rebounding well at all on the offensive side, only get one shot each time down the floor. Shedrik is better, but still soft, can't shoot.

Too many turnovers, missed shots.

Texas ran off 10 straight buckets to close the gap. It's 38-31 at the half, Ohio State.

I didn't get to watch the game last night but from the box score Captain Obvious says Johnson needs help.

Were we that bad or Ohio State that good or a little of both?

Bit of both. We looked like a team that has never played a game together. Ohio State came out red hot. This team could be real good. We’ll see if Terry is the man by the end of this season

Tre Johnson amazing (we knew that..though better than advertised). Rest of team needs to help. Hopefully having Mark back soon helps out a ton.

If Mark had played, we would win that game.

Yes, Johnson was/is amazing. And he'll get better over the season so thats exciting.

I think it's a bit of coincidence that the rest of the team had an off night shooting at the same time. That doesn't happen often.

I think Kmed, above, described it best as a team that had never played a game together before.

My take for what it's worth (not much):

I'm going to cut a little slack because we have 10 new players who aren't really meshing yet... but it's just a little slack because tOSU had 9 new players and it didn't seem to bother them.

I couldn't detect much "structure" to whatever we're trying to do on offense. Looks really discombobulated and out of sink. Bad shots and little rhythm. That said, Johnson is the best thing to come to Texas since Durant.

Defensively.... I didn't see too terribly much either, at least guarding the three. I think tOSU shot 50% from the three and all buckets except one in the first half were three-pointers. Who has ever heard of such a thing?

It's early. There is talent - and Tramon Mark (and someone else) didn't play. It could get much better.... scratch that, it needs to get much better or this will be a long, long season.

My take.... nobody has ever accused me of being an Xs & Os genius in basketball. Take it for what it's worth. .

Hamilton said that Tramon Mark (sat out yesterday) is the second best player on this team. He even said he might be the best college player on the team - and second best pro prospect (or something like that).

Does anyone know who the other player is that didn't play yesterday?
