Texas commit Cooper Harris (Flower Mound, TX) selected 106th by the Phillies

Jax Robinson is withdrawing from the draft

So, after the 1st day of the MLB draft is over:

4 Texas commits drafted and all will sign.

Emerson #2 overall getting 10+Million

Brody Bumila #89 overall and the Rangers are giving him over 1 Million

Cooper Harris #106 around $850K

Beau Peterson at #133, but Astros are planning to get him close to 2+ to 3 Million.

Now, whether this all happens we will have to wait and see. Team and players have until July 27th to get it all settled.

Carson Tinney went at the top of the 2nd round, believe it was 43.

Robbins and Riojas were both drafted late 3rd/early 4th.

Now, several commits have pulled their name out of the draft:

RHP Cooper Webb, INF Easton Autrey, LHP Phinn Beaird, RHP Trey Rangel, C Jax Robinson, RHP Larson Reeder, LHP Tucker Thompson, and I believe a couple of others. Needs to check on a couple of those. I don't believe some were considered by MLB teams, but no one ever knows until the draft is over and undrafted free agent players are announced.

Now, I think Harrison, Burns do get drafted on Sunday. Not certain about Leffew and Mendoza. The other senior players are 50/50 on getting drafted.

So, Hayes Holton has pulled his name from the draft. This is another very talented pitcher for next year.

Burns and Harrison both go in the 8th rd.

Still nothing on Mendoza.

The MLB draft is over. Both Mendoza and Brennan go undrafted. Now we wait to see if either sign as FA.

Brennan should be coming in to play next season, but 1 never knows until late July/early August.. Same with Mendoza unless there was some behind the seems we aren't aware of.

Now, we see what the staff does if anything in the portal to finish off this upcoming roster.

Definitely have to be happy with the draft. Pretty close to best case scenario. We knew Emerson, Peterson, and Bumila would go. We knew all the current roster players that were going to be picked. There were 4 players that I thought were closer to 50/50 to become/remain Longhorns and we kept 3 of them. Only losing Cooper Harris who will likely get over $1 million. Saw Peterson and Bumila are getting way over slot deals.

Returning proven contributors in Mendoza and Leffew. With Mendoza healthy you have a top half of the order bat. Leffew should be pitching some leverage inning. Finally, love the HS pitching we were able to retain in Rangel, Jorgenson, Holton, etc. Tons of talent incoming on the mound.
