what is the name of the baseball analysis and stats book that got everybody's attention a few years ago?

name of the book or the author or both. i don't think i'm thinking of sabermetrics but i may be. seems like it was something else, but might be wrong.

and i'm not thinking of Joeywa's Anal Analysis or StreettoPeschel's epic, Bullshit for the Cheap Seaters. I've already got those.

1-The Numbers Game by Alan Shwarz

2-Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis

Those would be my guesses.

i hope Anal Analysis is made into a movie.
You thinking of Bill James ?
that may be it. is he the guy who went off on sacrifice bunts? that's not specifically why i'm looking, but i seem to remember that he had a bunch of theories that "went against the book". was bill james the boston guy?

"the numbers game" also sounds like that might be the one i'm looking for.

i know he worked for the redsox as a consultant at one point. maybe still does. not sure. i have one of his books 'whatever happened to the hall of fame' that was a good read.

I love the movie Moneyball, if that is the one you mean.

It really doesnt matter which you do first, unlike most book-to-moves.

The easiest/quickest way to go about things would be to watch the movie first.

If you liked it, then go back and read the book - which contains quite a bit more information and stories (such as some of the movie characters were composites; and Art Howe in real life is not anything like the character in the movie).

I read it twice and have watched the movie 5 times.
