Are we 100% sure Strong is done filing his staff?

chambers

watson

robinson

2 of these could possibly NFL and chambers until NSD. to say it is a 100% is disingenuous at this time.

Im not sure its done because there are mixed reports on chambers
Getting Chambers out of an on field coaching position would be a good move. Needs to be moved into the player personnel dept. of whatever its called.

You keep making declarative statements like it's officially confirmed fact. Can you please provide me with the source of this announcement or confirmation from UT or one of its employees?
So, what you're saying is "because I said so" isn't good enough for you?

So, what you're saying is "because I said so" isn't good enough for you?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying—and before you possibly try and spin it like I'm somehow saying I'm correct "because I said so," let me point out that I'm simply pointing out that there's nothing to back what you're claiming.

The fact that there isn't anything to support your conclusions is what makes them incorrect (at this time), not anything I've said.

Why is he leaving MSU where he is OC to come here and be WR coach?
Good question. Maybe he wants to come home?

I think that a better explanation is that he likes what he sees of what Strong is putting together and wants to be a part of it. I still think we have one more hire, the OC, that he may be from the NFL (which would explain the delays - maybe he is in the playoffs?). And that Les knows who it is and this is why he agreed to take a lower position on the totem pole. Which would also allow him to come home to Texas.

Damn it, I was disappointed but finally coming to terms with our offensive staff. Now I'm hearing from some guy on the shag that a friend of his who called Strong a week before the hire is telling him Herman will be announced tomorrow. I can't take this.

Brother I hope your right.

come on guys...until we have an official announcement, we just don't know whether or not the staff is complete. those of you claiming to know are just using educated guesses. you may turn out to be right, but at this point, there is plenty of reason to doubt the claims.

I have to admit one of my many flaws is that I am optimistic to the brutal end.

However, I worked through the thought process, out loud and in writing for all to see, so tell me where I have it wrong?

This is what makes the most sense, isn't it?

Why else would people like Wickline, Koenning and Robinson leave their existing positions?

Stated another way, would coaches of their stature leave those positions without knowing who the OC was going to be?

Or, at least knowing who was in the specific and limited pool of candidates?

We'll find out soon enough:

Charlie Strong will officially announce his staff at 5 p.m. press conference.

Per Horns247

firehorn are you sure about your friend he said it be announce tomorrow but strong is having a press conference today at 5.

There are many reasons why these coaches might have left. All are speculation, but here you go:

Wickline - personal connection to Strong, having felt he reached his full potential with what he had to work with at OSU, wanting to turn the final corner in his career at a program at UT, Austin > Stillwater, $$

Koenning - played for UT and wants to coach his alma mater, grew up in TX and wants to go home, father is a TX high school football legend, rumored to be losing favor at MSU, Mullen and his entire staff may be out the door at MSU in the near future and the UT staff provides a new opportunity and job security for at least 2-3 years, $$

Robinson (this one is harder) - he was born in the south, attended college in the south, held 99% of his coaching positions in the south—so maybe he simply prefers the culture and state of TX to CAL which is drastically different. There's also the possibility of $$

I think the staff is done.
HC Strong

OC/OL Wickline

QB/play caller Watson

WR Koenning

TE Chambers

DC Bedford

DL Rumph

LB Jean-Mary

DB Vaughn

And I just posted my thoughts on the staff, but I like it. Let's roll fellas.
Why would we not hire the full compliment of coaches that we are allowed to hire. That seems odd to me. We should have one more coach to announce. But then again, nothing would surprise me at this point.

He left off Tommie Robinson, the RBs coach.

If herman was coming I think we would of heard about it somewhere (ohio st blog, espn) someone whould have leaked it out.

No one is 100%. The only people saying an OC has been named or is already on staff are the far from infallible football "insiders". Nothing from anyone at UT has confirmed or spoken about a OC or appointing one from someone already on staff.
The only 100% hires we have on the offensive side of the ball are Wickline and Robinson. Koenning is not official yet. Watson and Chambers are in the UT directory and on staff in some capacity that is not yet entirely defined. However, if Watson stays there's no way he would be in an off-the-field capacity, so you can count him towards the total # of assistants.

------HC---------

Charlie Strong

----OFFENSE----

Tommie Robinson (RB)

Joe Wickline

Shawn Watson [if retained]

---DEFENSE----

Vance Bedford (DC)

Chris Vaughn (DB)

Brian Jean-Mary (LB)

Chris Rumph (DL)

That totals 8 confirmed of a total of 10 allowed (including HC). That's it. Chambers is the only one we know is at UT in some capacity, but may take an off-the-field position.
I believe and know all have been hired. wickline is the OC/OL. OK done deal Chambers is tight End Coach..........9 coaches + Head Coach Strong = 10
