Any handgun enthusiasts?

I happen to be a longtime handgun enthusiast.  I don't collect them, I just like them.  It helps that I have a place to shoot them as well.

I just purchased another Les Baer 1911.  I already have 2 of his guns, but this one is a 5" SRP with the 50 yd. 1" guarantee.

The sucker was tight.  I mean REALLY tight!  So much so, it took both of my hands to ratchet the slide.  However, after I put 200 rounds through it, it finally loosened up enough to handle.  Whew!

Yeah, I know, I'm not a good enough shot to ever really experience shooting a 1" pattern at 50 yds.  I just like knowing I have a pistol that can.

It's like owning a car that can do 200 mph - not that you ever will.

It may be of some interest to some of you that most of the colleagues I know, pack heat.  Yep, that's right, medical doctors slinging iron.

You would be surprised how many of us have been assaulted.  Walking in hospital parking lots at 3AM or 4AM are the hunting grounds and times of the night for human predators.  Most of us are pre-occupied and exhausted as well.  Perfect targets.

In addition, most of us are well off and our homes become targets for the scumbags.  I have experienced this myself and it is frightening.

I've got a few handguns to suit my different moods ranging from a Ruger 22/45 Lite with a red dot on the rail up to an HK45.

Regarding defensive pieces, my CCW is a Kahr CM9.  My bedside is the HK45.  The Kahr is remarkably accurate for such a small handgun, and I cannot recommend it enough.

I've got a few other pistols for fun and range, including an old 1911 (Llama).  My most recent acquisition and the hardest gun to find to date is a CZ-75 SP01.  Someday, I'll probably build that thing up to make it a competition target pistol.

Les Baer?   I thought Texans bought only STI 1911s ;)
LOL!  I've actually been to their shop in Georgetown and my wife likes to shoot her little pink Elektra.

But I think Baers are the best and Wilson right behind him.

As you can tell, I am a 1911 enthusiast and even have a couple of Kimbers, which I still be believe are the best 1911 buys for the money. .

My son-in-law, was a major in the Marines (before he started his vet practice) and he likes to competition shoot IPSC and IDPA and he uses my range on my ranch all the time.  He actually has a custom STI, the model # escapes me, that vaguely resembles a 1911.
