The rumor-mill is going wild but apparently sources have confirmed that Mack and company have been talking with Anthony Fera, Senior kicker at Penn State. It is unlcear if Fera reached out to UT or vice versa but it really doesn't matter. Looks like the Horns have established communication Fera. This will most likely get worked out and my guess is we see Vera as a Longhorn sometime soon. The scholarship numbers are really tight right now but Mack will get this done, as our kicking game is in serious peril right now. Fera punted and kicked at PSU and he is from Texas. In fact his two sisters went to UT. His vitals"

He is a redshirt junior and will have 2 years of eligiblity. I am checking on some sources I know in Cypress on what they know but I think if anything, this is good for Texas

Also, scholarship #s should not be much of a factor bc all schools are allowed to go over the limits with PSU transfers. Will Russ has been rumored to be a possible transfer if he does not earn a ST job. If we do get Fera the likelihood of that happening increases, which imo is a good thing bc he hasnt showed much in his time at Texas. If Fera does come to Texas, we can redshirt Nick Jordan would would be good for our future. Fera wants a shot at both kicker and punter and bc Justin Tucker did that last year for UT, it gives us another +.

Hope Fera returns to Texas!

You can go over this year but have to pay the over back next year. If hes taking Paden Kelleys spot its a wash

I don't think it's an issue of the scholarships rather than the depth and the potential impact on that depth.

Right now we have:

Alex King (Transfer from Duke) who is a senior only for this year.

Nick Jordan true Freshmen

Will Russ who is a redshirt sophomore this year.

We need Russ as a punter and if we get Fera soon, Will can transfer before the season starts and sit out this year and have 2 years playing somewhere else. Sure we might be good at placekicking and maybe Jordan can do some punting but it could create another one of these special teams situations we had this year. Will Russ is important to our kickoff and punting situation in the future in my opinion. Maybe we can weather the deflection, but my perfect scenario would be Fera coming (which is highly likely at this point) and Russ staying.

Some are saying there is issues if the transfers with classes and others are saying course work/transfer hours are not an issue. Whats yalls thinking on that?

Seems 4-5 PSU guys have transferred to if he decides to leave, he wont be a "traitor.'

We should hear some noise by the end of this week.

Heard the same thing about the transfer issues. My guess is they work through those issues. He won't be considered a traitor if he transfers. The kids that do transfer need to do it QUICK since the season is here in a month. Fera's learning curve is not as great as Redd's or some of the other folks at PSU that leave since he is a kicker. Team culture is probably what will take the most getting used to.

Anthony Fera was back at Penn State for the rally but that means nothing. Twitter is blowing up with reports that he has basically all but left PSU for UT. This is not the case from everything I am hearing. There are a lot of issues to sort out most notably his potential loss of hours and courseload if he did transfer to UT. There is a strong probability he will transfer but his future outside of and/or after football is at stake. He values a college degree and doesn't seem to want to jeopardize the time and effort he has put into his grades and time at PSU.

One of his family members is telling people he is coming to Texas. Sounds like a done deal......

Mark Rosner ( AAS) says that ( Fera coming to UT) from what he hears. Nothing confirmed from my end. BTW... Ben Jones(247) RT'd that Rosner tweet. Jones is very dialed into the Penn State Football program. JW

Yep, multiple reports saying the announcement to transfer to Texas will come Thursday morning. He should be ready to go for Mondays practices.

At least a 1 game difference he will make this year.
