I have a very good friend who is staunch Dem and leans way far to the left. We were having beers the other night and he stated that if anyone gets their gun stolen, they should be held responsible for future actions of said gun. I told him "So my gun is locked up in the safety of my home, someone breaks into my house illegally, steals my guns and I should be held responsible later if someone uses that in a murder?". He said "Yep!" Needless to say, we discussed this for awhile with neither budging on our viewpoint.

A little later in time and beers he tells me "Oh hey man, did you hear about my wife getting her purse stolen from her car?". Seems she was at a store and before loading her goods, she sat her purse in the front seat. While loading stuff in the trunk, someone quietly opened her front door and took her purse (& phone) without her knowledge. She only discovered it when she got in to drive. He told me by the time they were able to cancel their credit cards, the person had charged thousands of dollars on the cards however the companies stated they would handle the illegal charges at no cost to them which was a huge relief.

So I asked him "So she put her purse in an unlocked car, had it stolen, her credit cards are used illegally and she's not responsible for the debit? Yet someone illegally breaks into my locked house, steals my guns and I'm responsible for future actions of said guns?" He just looked at me with deer in the headlight eyes and didn't say a thing.

He's my boy and love him like a brother but sometimes I wonder about him!
