This is what we need, more guns in the hands of people that have no training on the streets.  Stand your ground will be redefined.  If one sees a gun, is that enough of fear for my life and can then use deadly force?  I guess we'll find out.

We're in agreement on that issue, Rotty. My main concern is that it is going to make it easier for children to access guns. I am trained and have been around guns all my life and recognize the danger of having a loaded weapon laying around, which will inevitably happen without proper training.

It's quite obvious to me and the majority of the US population.  trump lost the election and was trying every avenue to stay in power including crying "rigged election", etc., which led to the insurrection.  A number of officials made the statements, no widespread election fraud, barr, krebs, GA state officials.  So that avenue closed.

In other words, the only concerns they really had was how to cover the election loss and bring havoc and chaos to the democratic process.  The insurrection was a product of that.
There are multiple witnesses and ample evidence to at the very least warrant an investigation, just because you and the fake media don’t agree doesn’t matter. The insurrection you speak of is more made up bs. I look forward to the day the truth comes out.

This is freakin stupid. Just because you see someone carrying a gun you shouldn’t fear for your life. Please be better than this.

Do you really think that Texans are just going to buy a gun because of this new law?  Hell no. You still have to pass a background check to buy a gun. This law changes nothing for the regular gun owners. This law doesn’t change anything that happens at home. You are either responsible or your not, this law doesn’t change that.

Is the gun pointing at you? Or is it holstered? Its pretty simple. Open carry is more or less a deterrent in itself. That said, I prefer not telling the world I have a gun (conceal carry). The criminal will look to shoot you first if they know you're packing.

Background checks have nothing to do with safety training. I'm a gun advocate, but guns without proper training are dangerous for everyone around the untrained owner, including family and friends. I sometimes pack for protection and certainly support others with good sense and temperament to do so too, but not without proper training.

From what I understand the DPS is supposed to have an online training course that is required to pass in order to permit less carry. The course will be free. I saw multiple YouTubers talking about the course before the bill was signed. I think that amendment is still part of the bill. I don’t think there will be a big jump in those who open carry but conceal carry might see a spike.

Online knowledge might be helpful, but it's not a good substitute for hands on training.

Big government has way too much control as it is and I don't like that, but in this case, I would compare this to driver's license requirements. Passing a written test doesn't necessarily mean you will be a safe driver. You have to learn that and demonstrate that.

I have seen people close both eyes before firing a gun for the first time. I have seen people wave a gun all over the place when struggling to get a load in the chamber because they don't know how or they don't have the strength. I have seen people carry weapons carelessly with the safety off.

I would not want to be anywhere near them if they're carrying.

There are always going to be flaws in every system. I know a few people who have taken the class and the instructor never required them to fire their gun. I really don’t think that a bunch of novice gun owners will start carrying. The majority will probably be gun owners that just never wanted to take the class. I would like to see statistics on gun crime after constitution carry is passed

I hear you, DR, but it's not the majority that worries me.

I would question an instructor who didn't require live firing. All I've heard of require a minimum score, although some may cheat on that, safety being much more important than accuracy.

I would also like to see a comparison of accidental shootings before and after.

Portland is going well.
Call 911…………….there ain’t no police. THEY’RE NOT COMING. YOU’RE OWN YOUR OWN. We have social workers available. Would you like us to send one of those out? I bet you can get a house cheap in Portland

This is just special. Socialists now declare birds to be racists. lol. You simply cannot make this stuff up.

The insurrection was captured on TV and police video.  So I'm not clear on where you're getting "made up bs".  Perhaps you can explain why you think it's "bs".  Because, in this reality, it's documented as an insurrection.  That's a fact.

I wonder if the family of the insurrectionist that was justifiably killed thinks it's "bs".  Or the Capitol Police that were attacked that day.

The insurrectionist went to the Capitol for one reason.  To overturn the free and fair election, kill Congress men and women and hang pence.
