Alaka gone

Boo

Part of recruiting. Mack really screwed us on this one by burning his official visit so early.

Im not worried about this loss. Atm wont be as prepared as us this season and thus wont win as many games as us without johnny football.

Atm will never make it to the nat championship with this playoff system and being in the SEC. If they couldnt do it with Johnny football they wont be able to do it without him

Gag me

Keep telling yourself this. It makes the pain a lot less.

was it simply not enough time to develop the relationship due to the official visit factor (at least in part)? On one hand, you have a kid who committed to Texas who now should be known more for D than before. On the other, he's a whole lot more familiar with the a&m coaches

Like I've said multiple times on OB if we keep Heard, Roberson, Catalon, and Armanti Foreman I'm good to go. Those are the 4 stars in the class IMO. Alaka has a bunch of potential, but it's going to be a few years before he's ready to play on the college level (Like I said he's gonna have to put on at least 30 pounds before he's close to ready). This would hurt if we didn't get Freeman.

No pain here. Just hope... which can be just as bad. But if there is one thing I have witnessed is that you can have all the star recruits there are and not win crap if they arnt coached up. We wont have this problem anymore and that gives me hope.

There are plenty of other kids that want to come here and will play twice as hard. Look at what Mizzou did in the SEC this year and then look at their past 4 recruiting class rankings.

This. Unfortunately the Longhorns will have to salvage what they can from this class and focus intently on 2015. Junior day is going to be bigger than most this year.

I do believe Lorenzo Joe sticks with Texas so maybe the sliver lining in this dark cloud at the moment.

Lot of people are going to blame CS for this, and that's not the case.
ummm.... yeah I believe it is a coach's job to keep an elite defensive recruit on board

Can't blame Strong for this, only had a couple meetings with Alaka. Relationships are key in recruiting. Also, Mack Brown really screwed Strong. Alaka had already used up his official visit to Texas under Brown during the end of the year banquet. if you are going to be mad at anyone it should be Mack Brown.

In your vast experience of doing so, please explain how a coach does that if they would rather be somewhere else.

If you want to blame Mack, blame President Powers. Powers is the one that didn't pull the trigger and fire Mack and allowed Mack to have the crazy notion that he could coach the 2014 team, therefore letting him continue to recruit
