A Good Day Just Got Better

Been to a practice round and a tourney round.  That place has to have the most beautiful landscaping in the world.  And a certain aura that only world class sporting events have. You'll love it.
Even SirHornsalot would be amazed at the landscaping! And television doesn't come close to showing you how hilly the course actually is. That surprised me as much as anything. And I've never ever been to an event that has the aura that the Masters has.

Par 3 contest!
Two years ago the wife and I were at the Par 3 contest sitting about 20 feet from the pin on one hole when the one and only Mr. Ben Crenshaw made a hole-in-one! Heard lot of Hook 'em Horns as he walked up to the green.

But there's nothing like seeing Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player playing together in the Par 3 contest. If you are a true golfer that is a very special treat. On that same hole, Arnie hooked one off the tee completely behind the gallery. "Miraculously" his ball ended up just a few feet off the green even though it never hit anything that would have caused it to ricochet that far ;)  The crowd loved it.

Jealous! Definitely a bucket list trip!  Where do y'all usually stay and for how long since you have tickets for one day?

Enjoy! It's an amazing experience.
Thanks. It truly is amazing.

Besides just the tournament itself, where else can you get 2 sandwiches and 2 beers for around $10, for real! Concession prices are unreal. And that's after also parking for free. Yes, they don't even charge for parking. Another cool thing is that when you walk in you can sit your chairs somewhere and take off walking. Come back 3-4 hours later and your chairs are right where you left them. No one bothers them.

And even though the merchandise store is jam packed with people it only takes a few minutes at the most to go through and pay for your stuff. Then you can store or go right next door and ship it back. Quite a system these people have.

All the schools are out on Spring Break during Masters week and they have lots of kids who work there during the Masters. I promise you that you will not be treated any nicer than you are at the Masters. You are greeted everywhere you go by a volunteer telling you to have a good day and asking how you are doing and if you need any help. Even as you go in and go out of the restrooms :D

How does a calf grow to become prime grade beef?
These are Longhorns and they are never butchered.  At least mine aren't - my wife, daughter and grandkids would disown me.  They are like pets around here.

I do get tax exemptions for them, but most of us Longhorn Association fools just raise them and buy and trade them amongst ourselves.

Oh, did I mention they are stupid and expensive?

I won them in the lottery that the Masters has every year which you only pay face value for. A little backstory on these that illustrates how much class the Masters people have.

I won 4 tickets to last year's Monday practice round. We gave them to some friends and the Monday practice round got rained out and the course was closed at 10:00 that morning. A week after the Masters I get an email from the Masters telling me that I would get a full refund on my tickets and would be assured of getting tickets again this year. I assumed they would be for Monday but was pleasantly surprised when they were for Wednesday. The cost of the tickets did go up 30% from $50 per to $65 per.
Awesome surprise, hope the weather is good and you have a great time at Augusta!

Have you been to any other majors? I've never been to any golf tournaments. LOL
You gotta take in Colonial, SFG.

I've been to the Colonial, Nelson, and SHO many times. Haven't made it to San Antonio, yet, for the Texas Open. Anyone seen at their new TPC?

allow me to hijack this thread. I was in Muirfield for the 2002 Open (British Open to you rubes). Ernie Els won in the only 4-man playoff in major championship history.
Augusta is still on the bucket list but going to watch and play in Scotland was right there for me.

One down, one to go
