I guess with the portal as it is, I just can't get excited about a kid who might leave after his freshman season.

So we shouldn't bother ourselves with recruiting anymore? Thats fine, just wanted to make sure thats what you're saying. I can always stop posting recruiting updates.

That's not what I said or meant. You're overreacting on this. Just because I don't get as excited anymore doesn't mean you can't.

I don't think I'm overreacting. Your sentiments were echoed by BCTex in the very next post.

I don't think every recruit we get will be portal bound after their freshman year. Wisener left and he was about to be a senior.

The ones that leave are usually ones we would prefer starting over elsewhere. Thats exactly what Sark did this year, a roster overhaul because we simply weren't strong enough at a variety of positions. So he not only brought in new talent, he let go of some players who just weren't getting it done at a UT level.

I didn't take anything personally so no worries there. I just don't want to chase down stuff that few people are interested in. No one asked me to post recruiting info and I don't want to force anything. I just try to keep the message board interesting and up to date, just cause I like you guys and this place and I want to see it do well.

Even though I don't post as much, I still get excited about recruiting so please continue posting.

Regarding the portal, I am a little jaded lately and wish there was a rule that allowed 1 portal transfer in a players college career. I think it would enforce players to think extremely hard and carefully about transferring. I love that kids can make life changing money, but I wish it was truly off Name, Image and Likeness and not on the program to pay. I guess I am old school and having a college education paid for is life changing on its own. Let kids use their name for commercials, promotions and other to make money. I just dislike where we are now. Ok, I'll stop now.

Regarding Roberts, I watched his clips and didn't get a Bijan-like feel. Roberts has really good speed and vision, but not the same smoothness and elusiveness as Bijan. Solid, solid back, but not generational, imo.

I can see that that one. He does seem to have good hands out of the backfield.

Some notes . . .

Hearing that UT will continue to pursue Williams-Callis despite landing Noah Roberts. UT is also pursuing others that are complimentary backs. IF Texas can land W-C, it will be the best RB combo we've landed in years.

Gilmer 4-star OT Ishamel Carrara is a straight up NIL recruitment. Whoever puts up the most money wins, period. There's a good chance Texas doesn't spend that much on an OT.

Looking very good with 5-star CB John Meredith.

I've been so busy with work and everything else I've finally caught up on 2027 stuff. Ishamel is a pretty good commodity but I don't think Texas needs to get overly crazy on the NIL. He is huge though
