2027 Recruiting Thread

My thoughts . . No NIL hit and Dia Bell ahead of him. Development player. However, his passing is pretty good already. Leads his receivers just right. Avoids the rush really well. Runs with purpose. Strong arm with nice touch.

He has many of the things 3-star Colt McCoy had coming out of HS.

Two time state champion as well.

Perfect developmental QB to squeeze in between 5*s. Loves Texas so the hope is he sticks and turns into something in a few years.

Exactly. We just hope this one has a better attitude and work ethic... lol

I think they're different. I think this one has potential to develop into something special. I never felt that way about Owens. I thought Owens had hit his ceiling his first year. He didn't seem to get better and was passed by Lacy who was a freshman last year.

I think Knutson is as good right now (or better) than Owens was before he left.

2027 LB Joakim Gouda (South Palding, Ga.) will visit Texas on March 10.

IMO, this guy makes my "must have" category. He's currently ranked a three star but his offer list says otherwise (Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Boston College and Florida State during January alone).

Reminds me of Ant Hill, but I think he's a bigger hitter. He's 6'2, 220 lbs.

Will be visiting Texas at the end of March. We're recruiting him as a safety.

Recruiting HS kids is starting to lose its luster for me. In this new era the vast majority of the HS kids have $$$ signs leading them instead development and winning. Not all, but schools are forced to play the game that way. 90% of these kids will not see the field in year 1. I know it is what it is, but HS recruiting is not exciting for me anymore

I think it will get to be more like it used to be. This year showed the NCAA world the blueprint (Indiana) for winning and most programs are now going to follow that to a large degree. That means blue bloods will be having smaller HS recruiting classes each year, with more emphasis put on the portal.

The smaller programs will end up getting some good recruits, but they won't get to keep them.

For example, the Knutson kid who committted to us recently. By all accounts a very good QB but was willing to settle for less money to be at Texas. I'd call it a bare minimum.

So I expect to see more of that with some bigger numbers going toward a select number of 5-stars and high 4-stars. But those figures will stop rising and in fact, may begin going down some.

I think on the top of the blue print it reads "don't rank 2nd to last nationally in penalties."

HS recruiting is almost like a year long tryout - to see what kind of money you are offered in year 2. Even if we pay a lot to get you on campus for year 1...

If you haven't noticed in recent years . . . June is the big month for Texas in recruiting. This is where we land our next generation of stars, and if not land them, then certainly we become a major player.

So in other words, consider this list to be the Texas shopping list for the 2027 class. There will only be a sprinkling of others (late risers, new offers at positions where we missed, etc) outside of this list.

Texas gave out a lengthy list of offers during January and now February, but so far these are the only kids to lock up an OV. This list shows the three weekends that are scheduled so far.

Credit to OTF and Gerry Hamilton. "All gas no brakes" means the player is already committed to Texas.
