Texas will put the money where the needs are, it is a smart approach.

Bobby Burton keeps alluding to some things behind the scenes that may also open up some more money for the horns to throw around. We will do that but only if the staff is certain the money we promise can be delivered both financially and within the new rules of the house settletment/NIL Go.

That is a smart approach. I'm sure Texas wanted some of the ones they missed on, but it seems to me they weren't really a priority. If they pull Atkinson and Cooper then that proves to me that if Texas really wants someone then they will get them. Plus they will do it the right way.

Ojo was a prime example, imo. The Horns staff probably looked at him as a good prospect, but they knew he would need a lot of work. The value on return right now was not worth his asking price and that's why the Horns didn't match. Imo, if they thought he was a bonafide 3 year starter at OT, then I would bet they would've matched TT. They obviously didn't think he was, but they probably think Atkinson and Cooper are.

Texas has a lot of good bodies in the pipeline at OT and obviously landed another 5 star OT in this class as well. Ojo not a major need even if he is viewed as a legit 5 star.

We have more of an upcoming roster need at RB and LB so it makes more sense to put more resources into those positions this cycle.
