Also I can't fault any of these Recruiters. If you gave me life changing money to go to Tech or Baylor and Texas was 2-3x less than that, I'd have to go there too. I just know once we get some clarity on rules and what will be approved, a bunch of players will get increased offers.

You ain't wrong. Id do the same thing.

Texas is electing to spend more to keep current roster together. They want less attrition then spending it on unproven high schoolers.

We will see what Deloitte approves and doesn't approve in the coming months but there will be major loopholes around it still. If the money is close Texas will get players over Baylor and Tech.

Burton today predicted Texas would be at 20-21 commits by the time we play OSU. After several challenges to that idea, he spoke of having renewed confidence in that happening.

When discussing their belief that Texas would end up with a top 5 class Bobby said something to the effect of “there’s some things happening behind the scenes that will help that”

July 20th ? Thought he wanted to attend a UT game before he made a commitment ?

He scheduled the visit. Then he scheduled his announcement. He has already had a two-day visit to UT, it was just unofficial.

My question is, why schedule a visit if you don't intend to come? Maybe this says it's Texas. Not sure.

Heze Kent to Florida.....SMH.

Not upset about that. He's an OT or a DT, which we already have, and who can play TE in blocking situations if we need a big guy.

On the positive side regardiing the 5-star RB Cooper, Miami 247 guy just posted that he would probably move his Crystal Ball from Miami to Texas.

He was said to be leaning Miami until now.

Here's another Miami site article re Cooper.

Top247 RB Derrek Cooper breaks down finalists ahead of a commitment

Gaby Urrutia (Miami 247)

One of the nation's top uncommitted prospects is just a week away from announcing his decision.

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Top247 running back Derrek Cooper has narrowed things down to five schools: Miami, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, and Florida State.

On July 20, Cooper plans to tell the world where he's playing his college football.

"I feel great getting it over with, getting into the season so I can play," Cooper told InsideTheU while checking in at the Crib Classic on Saturday morning.

Cooper touched on each of his five finalists.

On Miami: "I'm good with Miami right now. It's close to home. They've always been in contact with me. Conversations with [Matt Merritt] have been good. We've been chatting it up every day."

On Texas: "Texas has been good. They've been reaching out a lot too. They're a big SEC school. It would be great to play for them. I'm still going to take the [official visit] later in the season."

On Ohio State: "I feel great about Ohio State. [Carlos Locklyn] and Ryan Day, really good coaches. I like how they used Treyveon Henderson in the passing game."

On Georgia: "Georgia stands high on my list. [Josh Crawford] and [Kirby Smart] both great coaches. They stay in contact with me every day."

On Florida State: I love [Mike Norvell] and [David Johnson].

Cooper hasn't yet come to a decision.

"Still figuring this thing out. It's going to be a hard choice to pick, but hopefully I make the right choice," Cooper said. "Just being comfortable with the place. I want to be developed to the next level, the league. I want to be coached by the best."

As a junior, Cooper totaled 905 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground, while adding 9 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown as a pass catcher.

He is considered the No. 39 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. Cooper is the sixth-highest-ranked prospect yet to commit to a school.
