I'm not sure if you can have multi year deals with performance clauses, but it would add some sanity, to an out of control situation.

It makes no sense to pay a 5 star guy like Ffrench and work on development, only to have him leave before contributing anything.

Unless you can get a long term commitment from a high schooler, the whole paradigm of signing guys with potential, then developing them to contribute in future years completely falls appart. This concept seems fundamental to how Sark was trying to build the Roster.

Perhaps the smaller schools will now be mostly form a farm system, where they take in a boatload of freshman every year, and then all of those athletes that are successful enter the portal and sign lucrative deals with the schools that have money.

That’s why I think it’s going to have to happen. By keep a RS freshman from asking for $1million after doing very little. That or make it so you you can’t hit the portal til you’re 3 years removed from HS

My take is that the portal is just heating up. Lots of great players are just waiting around for the desperation to build before entering. There are still 3 teams playing that have good players that see crappy guys getting paid and they are licking their chops......This staff always seems to be behind in recruiting until the last when they close with a group near the top.. . Frankly it may be the strategy to keep lots of " dry powder" for when a top guy enters the portal late.

If y'all think there is no inside information being passed around....and no contact of other teams players then your eyes is not on the ball.

No idea what Tech offered.

The rumors were Tech paid $5 million

ok, let me dream a little here. Manning, Haynes, Brown, Coleman, Wingo, Locket, Mosely. That would be the best skilled position team in all of college football.......yes, yes, I know they would need an OL blocking for them.
