Great to see top talent commit to the Horns.  But it's a long time before this guy gets to campus.  Lots can happen between now and then.  Let's hope it includes Conference championships at the very least.

This is true but Sark will go get another top guy. His QB recruiting is amazing. We’ll always have a top QB as long as he is here.

2024  not bad who is better in next season's class?
No one said 2024 was bad. Understand that Texas is one of the top states in talent year in and year out. That being said, next year's class has top rated players all over the place. Sark will always go out of state if needed, but he won't have to as much next year.

Quotes from Utley on the Texas offer (On3):

“I had a feeling they were going to offer but it was still up in the air,” Utley told On3. “When coach Sark offered me it was a great feeling to have an offer from a university like Texas.”

“He (Sark) let me know that the progression that I’m making is on a constant upslope and that he doesn’t see me declining in any way or peaking out,” said Utley, the No. 160 player in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “He thinks I’ll continue to get older, grow into my body and mature. The more I play the game, he thinks I’ll become one of the best players in the country."

“The aspects of being a player for him and actually learning the game of football from him and becoming a better person, he marks off all of those boxes.”

“At the end of the day it’s all love but if you’re slacking off he’ll (Coach Davis) let you know about it,” Utley said. “I really appreciate that because he’s not a that will let you slack around and just go through the motions. Coach Davis expects perfection out of you every single time and if he teaches you something, he expects you re-image it and do it in the drill exactly like he taught you."

“Knowing the schools that I’ve been to and things that I’ve seen, Texas did some things that kind of separated themselves from other schools I’ve been to. Getting a feeling how Coach Davis is as a coach really separated them from other coaches I’ve been around. Seeing that and knowing that’s how he coaches his players in college, I could see myself playing for him in the future.”

247 got quotes from QB KJ Lacey after his commitment to Texas.

He mentioned he got to spend some time with Ewers this weekend, and had dinner with Manning on Friday.

“The first time I met Coach Sark, he was like ‘Man when I looked at your tape, I wrote down on your notes ‘Bryce Young 2.0,' Lacey told Horns247 shortly after his pledge. “He recruited Bryce since the sixth grade. He said y’all’s personalty is just alike, on and off the field. That was one of his main attractions towards me. He can see me at Texas. He loves what I’m doing at Saraland.”

“I came a couple weeks ago and everything was just perfect,” Lacey said. “I came by myself, though. My parents didn’t come. I came back home, told my parents about everything, and they said man, that sounds like it’s the place for you. So I (would) just keep on communicating with the coaches and everything, figure out everything I needed to know. I came back and talked to Coach Sark and Coach Milwee and I was in a meeting with Coach Sark and I told him then. He was fired up.”

“Alabama was on top for me,” Lacey said, reflecting on earlier this year.

“Really just the relationships with everybody I have up there,” Lacey said. “All the coaches, as soon as I walk in the door everyone’s like, ‘Oh KJ, what’s up, what’s up, what’s up?’ You walk in and the attention is around you. Everyone is really close. I talk to Coach Sark, Coach Sark is really cool. I love Coach Sark. Just what he does with quarterbacks and his offensive schemes. Basically they were like when you leave Texas you’ll be NFL ready. They were like you’ll learn every part of being a quarterback. That was really the main thing.”

“For me, it was kind of easy, really,” Lacey said. “With everybody around me, my family. Being in Alabama, everybody is like when are you committing to Alabama? But the relationships and the communication, everything was there with Texas."

“My parents, everything I told them when I came back the first time, they said it was real and 100 percent authentic. … Texas just stood out the most by far over everyone.”

“I’m going to work on that soon,” Lacey said of recruiting Ryan Williams. “I already have, really. I’m definitely going to try to get my boy to Texas. I’ll be with him almost everyday, really. Hopefully it’s kind of easy. We’ll see how it goes.”

“Everyone that I knew up there, even people I didn’t know, they were talking about the (commitment),” Lacey said of other recruits. “They were like, ‘Alright we’re going to talk.’

“I”m going to have the people I’m trying to get and I’m pretty sure they’re going to tell me people I need to recruit. Whoever I need to go get, I’m going to go get them.”
