Just thought it was odd that his visit has been built up for a while, and Hamilton was reporting as late as Thursday that Russell would be traveling in with his family.

Interesting update on QB Keelon Russell from OTF...

- the staff told him they don't plan on taking two QBs in this class, they want one and to focus on developing that QB
- they told Russell their QB will be him or Lacey, they love his ability and can see him being a part of the Texas program
- Russell said this was his best visit to date, and he told the staff he'd come in and compete
- an offer is a possibility

I wouldn't say backed off as much as he's a contingency at this point.

He has an official visit scheduled in June, but the staff is zeroed in on Anding, Brew and Phillips at corner.

Phillips told me when the staff offered they just want him somewhere in the secondary period.

Florida State is his last official as things stand.
