2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Man, why is DT recruiting consistently such a struggle? Since Sark took over we have yet to sign a top-30 DT.
On the other hand, we have the best d-line in the nation so something must be working.

Are we recruiting different traits that don't often get kids rated highly?

Is Coach Bo just that good at development that he takes our 3-4 stars and turns out top NFL prospects?

Do we go to a completely different level when we do get a few 5 star DTs?

From IT today...

"Expect the Longhorns to be very active in the portal after this season. Very active. Likely more so than after the 2022 season."

I expect this also implies several portal transfers out if they aren't seeing the field today.
I didn't get the sense they were focusing on that part of it, but it obviously has to happen to a degree if you're bringing new pieces in.

The big intangible for this game is that ou was totally embarrassed last year and should be highly motivated to show that it was a fluke. For that reason I expect the game to be fairly close, but they won't have enough to pull off the upset.

Also, Sark used a lot time to prepare for Bama. Venables didn't have to prepare for anyone but Texas. He was thoroughly embarrassed last year and his seat will be red hot if we blow them out again. He's throwing the kitchen sink at us.

All that to say, we'll kick their asses again, but they'll put up a fight this year.

Agreed. Something is fishy here. Happens for a guy or 2 every class.
Worth noting that this weekend trip to A&M for Black has been scheduled for a while now. The fact that he is reconsidering attending may actually be more of a positive sign for Texas, and not a negative.

IT has also been reporting for a while now that he was probably not going to commit for a while and wanted to enjoy the process and take trips. He cancelled his LSU trip and is considering cancelling this one as well. If he does, he may as well go ahead and commit to Texas. If he does trip to CS this weekend, definitely worth paying attention to but I wouldn't yet be too concerned about it.

If you prepared and beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, just use what worked their.  Beat their asses on the both lines of scrimmage.  If you do that, you win.  Texas is winning because of the lines.  Keeping our QB and RBs clean opening wholes.  The defense is snuffing out runs and getting after the QB.  If you do those things, the second half is yours.

What if we are behind 28-7 @ half but come back beat them 38-31. That would be sweet but I would sweating.

They ain't scoring 28 points in the first half on us.  They scored 20 in a whole game against Cincinnati and 28 against SMU.  And those are the two best teams they've played.  The two best.  Cincinnati and SMU are not good.
