2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

This is what I'm tracking at the DB positions.  It seems like Texas is loading up this year.  I could see them pulling in 6-7 in this years class.

Current S roster:

S Warren Roberson - Fr

S Derrick Williams - Fr

S Larry Turner-Gooden - R-Fr

S Michael Taaffe - So

S BJ Allen - R-Fr or So

S Jerrin Thompson Sr Gone

S Jalan Catalon - Sr Gone

Potential 24 S recruits:

S J. Johnson-Rubell

Current CB/SPUR roster:

CB Malik Muhammed - Fr

CB Xavion Brice - Fr Potential portal

CB Terrance Brooks - So

CB Austin Jordan - So Potential portal

CB Gavin Holmes - Jr Possibly gone

CB Ryan Watts - Sr - Gone

CB Kitan Crawford - Sr - Gone

SPUR Jaedae Barron - Sr - Gone

SPUR Jaylon Gilbeau - So

Poss 2024 CB/SPUR recruits:

Kobe Black (Texas lean)

Selvin Bridges (Texas lean)

Corian Gibson (40% Texas, 60% Clemson)

Wardell Mack (Texas lean)

Santana Wilson (Texas Commit)

I see 4-6 potential spots opening at CB/SPUR and 2 at S for 6-8 total.

At the CB positions, Holmes could depart if he has a breakout year and enters the draft. I could also see Jordan & Brice potentially portal due to competition or being recruited over.

At the S position, I could see them sticking at 1 take (JJR) in 24 if Jelani McDonald is placed at that position; however, I have him projecting to LB. So, they will likely take 1 more at this spot.

Thoughts from anyone on this?

Will some of you please quit equating this team to any other, please.

We haven’t put this much talent and depth on the field since January 2005. Even then, if Vince had gone down due to injury, I believe it would have been bad, really bad.

Murphy, I believe would be fine, but folks would need to tolerate some mistakes of inexperience.

I don’t want Arch to get thrown into a game like Gilbert did. That was a trial by fire.

We now have depth on the o-line, and a depth of riches in the running back room.  Wide receiver depth, talent and depth so good, enjoy it!

Defense

we have defensive line depth again-yeah!  Not saying that we shouldn’t take some really good ones this year.

Linebackers are making some plays, and I love hearing their name called.  Ford is a beast, to name one.

Defensive backs. We finally have corners playing corner and safety’s playing safety. Hallelujah!

I have confidence our special teams will be good again. Sark has proven that he values all three phases of the game!

I respect the job Sark is doing. He appears to be a recruiting beast, with a staff of recruiting monsters.  It appears that he has created a positive and supportive atmosphere around the team, and the team loves and respects him for that.  He does have his limits, and enforces them!

it takes a person that understands and cares for his players to do that.  It also takes someone who makes good assistant hires.

Sark has been here, what?, 2 and a half years..  He has done an amazing job in that time, spectacular might be the better word.

This is going to be fun boys.  Strap up and and get ready to enjoy the ride.

Hook ‘em!
Yes Sark is 13-12 in his two seasons,so there are still reservations is he  coach. He has been able to recruit.

Great post. I feel really good about the young corners, Brooks and Muhammed. Add Black to that mix and Gilbeau etc.. and we should be good.
I remember one game, I think it was against Baylor 2 years ago, where we had a walkon playing in secondary.

Horns should have enough depth for that not to happen.

That is the thing with this roster, seems to have more depth than any other roster I can recall.

Good take rexbound. Belive Catalon has a couple of years left, injury and how he plays might figure in his returning.

Hope McDonald sticks at safty.  ever liked the spin down. If you want a LB get one who played LB. Ford vs Overshouwn.

Good post. Thanks for putting in the time to research. I don't think we'll get them all even though most are leans to Texas. Im thinking Briges inks elsewhere. Look for a late bloomer to jump in the mix. Sark has done a good job with Senior evals.

Couldn't agree more. Sark is legit and could have a long and successful run here.

Two points that I've heard reported about Sark are 1) the outgoing portal is a one-way path. You're either in or out. Your choice. and 2) Don't come to Texas for NIL commitments; if you join the team and excel, the NIL will take care of itself. There may be other similar items as part of Sark's approach, but I think these illustrate how smart he is to create a team that is bought in for the right reasons. Contrast that with a coach a couple hours east of here.

Great post, thanks.

Seems like very little is expected of Jordan. I thought I read he had a really good spring and turned some heads. Also thought he played well in the bowl game. Could be a sleeper but with all the depth being assembled, kids will need to step up quickly to earn snaps.

You are correct, sir. He was playing with virtually the same team that left the field, with the exception of Sam, after the loss to OU.

Yet, Sark had such an impact on attitude that,  only 2 years later, we stood toe to toe with Alabama without our starting qb and shutout OU while scoring half a hundred.

I will simply end with,

Hook ‘em!

Sheesh.
