Importantly, he will be committing during the dead period. That means no more visits prior to the decision. That means it is unlikely for there to be any major swings and it seems all signs point to Texas currently.

Based on the On3 article, I would definitely be betting on USC.  He said all the phrases about USC that you normally hear after a commitment.  Hope I am wrong, but unless Momma wants UT, it doesn't look good.

The way I'm reading it is that it's a 50/50 deal. Distance may be a factor, but he may not care. I'm just curious if the usc to be b10 had an impact on him one way or the other

From CTJ, a plugged-in poster from another site . . .

A few things:

-Regarding Jordan Hall, it's not a pipe dream, so that's one to watch.

-Regarding the Safety from Georgia - pipe dream to ignore.

-Hicks is going to watch a bunch of freshmen playing all over the DL to ATM this season before he announces at the UA all star game in January. He's also not the type to be excited about being the only standout in a class and he's very NIL educated. I have now gone from pipe dream to believing that Texas is the smart bet.

-Gullette's top two are Texas and a distant second of Ohio State. I don't see the guy going to the ATM pool party, but maybe he does. If the recruit had the only say in things, he'd have shut everything down already.

-When Greathouse picks Notre Dame, it will be interesting to see if Texas isn't willing to take both Hale and MHP. Seems like they will.

-USC is a legitimate threat for Shelby but it's a good sign that he decided to avoid the aggie gathering. Getting pestered on social media to come to it from the likes of Taylor Hamm and his fanboys didn't help ATM's cause.

-Shanahan got laughably overranked by Rivals early and his family bought it. If he had a committable offer from Bama, Georgia, or Clemson, he'd be taking it. Interest with Texas is largely one-sided.

-Either Texas finds a difference maker at OT that they like or they pass from here on out. The guy from East St. Louis is a legit target with real interest.

-Jamarious Brown would be a huge get, but Alabama probably wants him. Not sure the NIL-side will be a differentiator for anyone if Bama pushes.

-Guys that I know people can feel good about: MM, Baxter, Hill, MHP, Gullette, Hale. Guys we are not fooling ourselves in following: Hicks, Shelby. Guys that would mean Texas has crushed it in recruiting and is winning on the field: Brown, Hall, East St. Louis, Robinson. Guys I forgot to ask anyone about: Vasek, Toviano, Matthews, Osborne, Akana, whoever else I didn't list.

-Fully weaponized NIL initiatives: Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Miami. NIL programs figuring things out or already fired up but incapable of creating a competitive advantage at the top level: SEC powers, Notre Dame, Louisville, PSU, Michigan, Houston, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Tennessee. ND and Michigan eventually move into the first tier due to alumni power. NIL programs with their heads firmly up their own asses: Texas ATM, Pac 12, Baylor, TCU, Clemson, North Carolina, FSU. NIL Programs that qualify for the X-Files right now: USC, OU.
