2023 Recruiting Board/Thread

CTJ's predicted class

QB (1): Manning

RB (2): Wisner, Baxter - Georgia and Bama are both in on 2 other 5 star TBs, so Baxter isn't that farfetched if Texas lands Manning and can fend off UF.

WR (3): Niblett, Pettaway, Parker - WR is a position that this staff isn't going to take many chances on at the HS level. They're looking for sure things, speed, and maybe one OKG every other year. The portal is going to feed the WR room at Texas, apparently.

TE (2): Randle, Shannon

OT (1): No clue who this will be. Call in the lottery ticket on Zalance Heard, I guess. Recruiting an OT after taking the guys they just signed is going to be rough.

OG/C (3): Reed, Cajoe, Chatman

Edge (2): Gullette, Shelby

DL (3): Spencer, Mitchell (I can dream), Hicks (again, a man can dream)

LB (3): Burrell, no clue otherwise

CB (2): Muhammed, Matthews

S (2): Johnson, Harrison-Pilot

That's 24 signees. I won't be surprised by any number between 20 and 35. It all depends on Manning and how the season goes. I think Texas and other blue bloods will embrace the premise of signing as many guys as they like and letting the portal sort out the 85 man total. Not quite a return to the DKR days of signing guys just to keep from having to play against them, but not far off from it, either.
Okay, I'll  bite. Been busy this past week.

I could see 28-31 depending if Manning commits and sticks with us.

So,

QB: Manning

RB: Wisner, Baxter. Don't believe Owens will be in the class either way. If no Baxter. Watch for the transfer portal if the right fit is there.  See Alabama.

WR: Niblettl, Pettaway, 1 or 2 of Hale, Cook, Brown. Guessing Parker is Kyle Parker, which is a 3*, we can do the circling back on this one. Not certain how I feel about the portal feeding this position yearly.

TE: agree with

IOL: Agree with unless they find a new target or Breland from MS could be a take and Reed becomes the OT.

OT: Stroh? Maybe Reed

DE/Edge: agree with. Might add Vasek.

DL: agree on all 3. But add A. Jones if one doesn't work out.

LB: need at least 3 probably 4.  So, Burrell. Maybe Hill (doubtful right now, but if we do move to the SEC maybe?), adding Anderson (safety at North Shore, but open to LB in college), and Lefau (out of HI) both coaches have had some success with these guys. Portal could be a big player at this position as well.

Agree with both the CB and Safety positions, but if a top corner wants in the coaches will make it fit.

So, again getting to 28-31 probably not that difficult if looking at the roster honestly. Getting  to 35 means we have truly flipped the roster in 2 years at nearly 70 new players.

Hale has massive quads!

Hayes Fawcett posted a pic of QB Arch Manning on his official visit to Georgia and asked if that's where he'll eventually commit.

WR Johntay Cook II hopped in the comments and said "No."
Was that Johntay or Jalen? I thought it was Jalen Hale.

Hale was in the picture with Arch.

Johntay was the one who commented saying Arch wasn't going to Georgia.
Gotcha. I am way too zeroed in on Hale. lol

Georgia 247 had basically a non-update on QB Arch Manning after his official visit to Athens.

They said Georgia is in it and have as good of a chance as anyone, they expect him to see Alabama next weekend and Texas will be a big visit for him at the end of the month.

Typical official visit stuff.

What a glorious Monday morning.  The baseball team has moved on to the Supers, Women's softball is in the Semis and Arch is no longer in Athens.

I know Bama is always a threat, but i would bet that Bill O'brian has to be a negative factor here.  Can't tell me the Manning family isn't well aware of Bill's lack of offensive creativity.  Plus, Bama recently picked up a QB for 2023.
