One could say the same for a 4-star or even a 5-star.

I couldn't remember Colt McCoy's year (class), so I went looking. I bumped into Case McCoy's class in 2010. We had no five-stars that year. But our top four, highest ranked four-stars in that class never did a thing at Texas.

As I looked through more classes, there were more examples of that.

I could rip off a list of 3-stars who made it big at Texas. There are many. But that doesn't necessarily mean this Champ Lewis kid is cut from that cloth. It just means it happens more often than you think.

Personally, I like it better than most commits we get because this was based on our own evaluations. If PK liked him, I'm not the guy who will argue.

Funny how most of Bama, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson classes are mostly 4 and 5 stars. I wonder why their staffs evaluations align with 4 and 5 stars?

Nobody in their right mind would choose to have a roster of mostly 3-stars. Nobody has attempted to make that case. You defeated a point nobody made. lol

Funny how every school you named have three-star players in their classes right now. 

But if you're attempting to tell us that you have better evaluations on players than say Sark or Pete Kwiatkowski or Terry Joseph – that's gonna be a tough sell.

Ronald Lewis is a three-star 6'1, 175lb corner with freakish ability to turn his hips and had eight interceptions last season and has the versatility to play safety down the line.

Not arguing your point, but doesn't UT currently have ten 4* recruits so far for 22 (according to 247 composite)?  They have the potential to add another four or five more.  Possible future additions include Brennan Thompson, Devon Campbell as a good possibility. Possibly getting 1 of Finkley, Wiggens or Bledsoe and a potential flip of Larry Turner-Gooden.  The longer shots include Evan Stewart and Denver Harris, but Texas is still in the mix for. 

All depends on having a strong showing in the season (it all depends on what they do on the field) That would bring the total to around three 5* (long shots, but possible) and twelve 4* in 22.  I think you can build towards a championship team with recruiting like that.

The 247 Composite team rankings are skewed toward quantity especially this early in the process. They do have a column for average player ranking which is more of an indicator of quality. Penn State sits at 10th in the average play ranking. Alabama, currently 2nd in the team rankings, is ahead of Penn State by a considerable margin in the average player ranking and is first in that category.

Penn State,, Alabama, and Notre Dame are 1-2-3 in the current team rankings.

Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson are 1-2-3 in the current average player rankings.

For comparison, Texas is 10th in the team ranking and 16th in the average player rankings.

I get every one's frustration with recruiting, but this is a transition year. Let's see what happens on the field this year before we pass judgement on the coaching staff.

I'm probably more optimistic than most about how we will play this year. I don't think 10-2 is out of the question at all. And I could see 11-1 and playing in the CCG.

I suspect the uncertainty of when we will start in the SEC may be negatively effecting recruiting. I also suspect that for whatever reason we have been slow to take advantage of the NIL resources that we should be able to exert. Hopefully these 2 factors are fixed soon and obviously a compelling product on the field will do wonders for recruiting.

Sark isn't the recruiting issue, the fact we can't win a meaningful game is.

Kids want to win and they want to win now. Nobody is interested in building their own legacy.

Win games get 5*'s simple

I think this is our last season in the Big 12. And I think staff is saying that, off the record, in certain situations. They are being careful to tow the company line otherwise though.

Texas will buy out their Big 12 early exit fee or let the LHN pay for it via ESPN – but I'm thinking the Big 12 may not exist with the possible departure of Kansas looming.

Yea, I really wish they wouldn't include those guys in the rankings. There are 5-6 teams in the top 12 with special teams players included but we are the only one with 2. We have both the highest rated special teams player and the lowest rated.

Either the kicker or the  long snapper is not counted not sure which. Check the bottom of Texas rating number is one less than number of recruits.

Could be wrong.Texas has had great kickers and punters over the years, aand they have won several games for the Horns. Special teams are very important.

Was WRONH done the caculator and both  kicker  and DS were counted.
