Franklin is just a name right now. Not a serious consideration until we need him to be.

Imagine you're chasing Urban Meyer while also chasing Franklin. Urban says "are you sure you want me? I see you recruiting Franklin to be coach. Sounds like you're not sure who you want."

When Bama went after Saban, they weren't trying to get anyone else.

I agree and hope so.  The problem is keeping him around right now.  You risk having a 2013 all over again.  Brown was on the way out, then the team went on a run and almost won the B12.  That changed the whole dynamics of the coaching hire replacement.  Keeping Herman around right now could cause a similar run (not likely, but possible) and create chaos that could potentially lead to the loss of another high profile coach.

With that said above, I will always, always root for this team to win everytime they step on the field.  So, I'm not hoping they lose to Baylor at all.  Do I feel this team could be better under a coach like Meyer? Absolutely I do; however, if Herman gets out of his own way and turns this season around then I will root for him to make improvements next year and win.  Do i think that will happen? not likely if I were a betting man.  So, hopefully I eat crow at the end of the year, but if Herman doesn't right the ship then I feel comfortable that CDC will make the appropriate changes.  He did it with Karen Aston.
