This would be an interesting trade. I wouldn't do it since we have probably have Benjamin for one year. I'd rather have Jordan for three years and keep Duvernay. I haven't forgotten that Jordan ran for 343 yards in the state championship game.

College football trades we'd make if we could

3. Texas senior WR Devin Duvernay and freshman ATH Jordan Whittington for Arizona State junior RB Eno Benjamin

If Texas can get its running game going, the Longhorns become real College Football Playoff contenders. Giving up two talented WRs to land the Pac-12's best back is something Tom Herman has to do. Arizona State just lost its best player in receiver N'Keal Harry and is so thin at the position. Texas has around 12 guys who could play receiver this season. Duvernay has two years of eligibility left after catching 41 passes for 546 yards and four touchdowns in 2018. Whittington is a true freshman who is already enrolled and could play all over on offense. He was the No. 40 player in this year's ESPN 300 and accumulated 5,400 all-purpose yards and 60 total touchdowns in his past three prep seasons. All Benjamin did was lead the Pac-12 with 1,642 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs last season.

No way.  Jordan has way too much upside.  Also, Devin has 1 year of eligibility left not 2.

Ohio State, Texas among potential landing spots for All-ACC transfer

By John TaylorFeb 20, 2019, 1:33 PM EST

Not long after leaving Georgia Tech, Parker Braun is quickly whittling down his transfer to-do list.

The standout offensive lineman has already taken an unofficial visit to Florida, while he has an official visit scheduled for March 1 to Texas.  He also confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he’s “still trying to work out something with Ohio State” as far as a visit to the Columbus campus.

Additionally, Braun’s father has confirmed to 247Sports.com that his son has been in communication with Auburn line coach B.J. Grimes and could visit The Plains at some point in the not-too-distant future.  Mike Braun did allow that the Tigers are “kind of a longshot” while the Gators, Longhorns and Buckeyes are the current front-runners.

A Freshman All-American in 2016, Braun has earned first-team All-ACC honors each of the past two seasons.  Braun had spent the vast majority of his time at Tech as the Yellow Jackets’ starting left guard.

The 6-3, 280-pound Braun is scheduled to receive his degree from Tech this coming May.  As a graduate transfer, Braun will be eligible to use his final season of eligibility at whichever Power Five school he ultimately chooses.

Major Applewhite is reportedly the latest coach-turned-Alabama analyst looking to rehab his career

Major Applewhite is reportedly returning to Alabama to become the latest addition to the Nick Saban Coaches Convention and Career Center. AL.com reports that Applewhite, who in December was fired as Houston's coach after just two full seasons, will return to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and join the Crimson Tide staff as an analyst.

Applewhite has a previous connection to Alabama as Saban's first offensive coordinator in 2007. Applewhite left after one season to take an assistant position with Texas, his alma mater. Officially, Alabama has not yet confirmed the hire.

Applewhite went 15-11 in his two seasons (plus one game as an interim coach) with Houston, going 0-3 in bowl games after losing the Armed Forces Bowl to Army, 70-14, to cap the 2018 season. Houston president Renu Khator joked prior to Applewhite beginning his tenure with the Cougars that expectations were sky high. "We'll fire coaches at 8-4," he said.

Saban has developed somewhat of a fast track for coaches looking to rehab their careers. Several coaches, from Lane Kiffin to Mike Locksley, have taken on assistant or analyst roles for the Tide only to be hired away later. The most recent example was former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops; however, Mike's brother, Mark, who is the coach at Kentucky, has said he will consider hiring Mike for the open coordinator spot with the Wildcats.

Good for Major.

Good for Major.
Good for Major as long as he never coaches again at UT again. His BS hire of Kendal Briles was my last straw. I usually hope a former UT player does well, but with Major I don't care and I sure hope he doesn't do well at Alabama and Saban.

Major Applewhite makes shameful decision to hire ex-Baylor assistants Kendal Briles and Randy Clements at Houston

Agree. I couldn't believe he stooped to the hiring of Briles. Shame on him for that.  Good luck to him in the future. Major....Please learn from that decision.

The talent gap between every team in the Big 12 not named ou and Texas may be the widest margin it has ever been and it is growing. Losing to any of these scrubs going forward would be a disgrace. Matter of fact IMO we will know we are back when we quit losing to these garbage teams in the Big 12.

But our garbage teams were still better their garbage teams.

Talentwise, yes. There's a wide gap. But until these younger players display the cohesiveness of the experienced players in the Sugar Bowl,  I don't think the gap's that wide. Until then, every game will be a challenge.

The talent gap exist in every conference. I do agree that our bottom of the barrel is better than the bottom of the barrel with other conferences.. I could care less though how well any other team does

I agree with this, too, but my point is that I don't think we should assume that all our conference games are going to be a cakewalk except ou.

I see the point now and definitely agree. We won’t be cake walking until we have consecutive 10 win seasons and have proven that we are a dominant force year in and year out.

UT better bring it's A game every week. Still can't afford to overlook anyone.
