2020 Recruiting Board/Thread

More and more money being spent at the college level. High school players represented by agents. Free agency through the portal. Recruiting younger players.  College football has become blatant minor league professional.

Someday, parents with the right genetics will sign contracts for their future children to play football.

Back to ratio of OUTof Staters to Texas recruits.  After looking at toop 100lists

there seems to be plenty of talent at all positions except DT and

LB. Then Herman might think the OOS mmight be better. Time will tell..

Spoke to my friend this evening. All is well in Austin tonight.

I asked him straight up who the next 2020 commit would be.

"If I have to say right now, I'd go with Prince Dorbah," he said. "He loves us and we love him. If I had to give a second choice, it might be the LB Scott from Dunne. We're having a great relationship with him."

Is this indicative of increased efforts in DFW (both kids from DFW).

"Yes and no. We're giving DFW more attention, yes. But the relationships we have with both are as typical as you'd see anywhere else," he said.

"We're hitting California and some other spots pretty hard, so we'll have some out of state kids in this class again."

I asked about the team. He just laughed and said "we're getting big around here right now."

No doubt Herman and staff is working nonstop on the 2020 class and leaving no stone unturn. They are recruiting Dorbah hard..and a whole bunch of others. I agree with your friend there yeah we will see OOS kids in this class again. If anything, Herman knows how important DFW is...

Would love for Dorbah to be the next commit.  Let's get these trench guys.

Super K says we are out in front for Dorbah.

Not sure what OU is looking for defensively, but he also said they've not only slowed down recruiting Dorbah, but Brennan Scott as well.

Per Mike Roach of 247, JUCO OT Willie Tyler will be taking an OV to Texas this weekend. Texas is staying active in the JUCO/grad transfer market. Tyler is set to graduate in May and will have four years to play three.

Daniel,  any thoughts on this guy? Man, if he can play a lick he seems like he would definitely be take. Especially since he weighs 330 and has 3 years left.

The question is whether he’s good enough to take up a scholarship spot for three years.

4 years to play 3, so he could come in and if he cant contribute immediately we could red shirt him

Any ideas

Not a clue, but I like it.  There was a CB for Xavion Alford so maybe it was him.  Maybe Mookie Cooper, which would be a solid get.  Not sure where he would play though, WR or RB.

According to 247Sports' Crystal Ball Projections, the Texas Longhorns are the way-too-early front-runners to land the Houston resident. That's not surprising when you consider all of the factors we've discussed.

Obviously, a chance to play in-state and help with the Longhorns' rebuild is an enticing opportunity for any young player. Texas is coming off its first 10-win season since going 13-1 in 2009, and that's in large part thanks to head coach Tom Herman, now in his third year.

Herman was able to help the Longhorns land the third-best recruiting class in 2019. There were a bunch of big names in that class, but not a true standout at running back. That's great news if Evans wants to play in Austin, because it'll open the door for opportunities to start sooner instead of later.

Some talented running backs have gone on to have NFL success out of UT. Names like Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams and Jamaal Charles come to mind. Evans will have a chance to carry on that legacy of talented runners if he decides to play for the Longhorns.

Supposedly Mookie has already arrived.  He can play anywhere, dude is dynamite with the ball in his hands.  Jet sweeps, couple of carries out of the backfield, screens, deep routes.
