Texas was playing with house money with McCoy. Losing him may be a perception hit, but they will still be fine and did more than fine at the WR position in the 2019 cycle. He’s a stud and would definitely love to have him, but they will be fine regardless.

Texas is a long way from California. The first year away from home is the hardest...for the kid and the parents.  Some handle it well, some don't. May have worked out better if he hadn't enrolled early.

Still not a done deal yet.

I appreciate your trying to soften the blow, but this is a huge loss. It's true that WR is a deep position, however you don't lose a top ten player in the country who is a playermaker and it not such a big deal. Add in the fact that he is from California which could have  led to other top California players in the future.

You may think we were playing with house money, but as far as I'm concern once he came to Austin he was ours.

This was all leaked from the USC side of things and everyone from the Texas side was blind sided by this stuff late last night. Take that for what it’s worth.

The wheels have been in motion on this well before today and it just made it into the light.
No way the Texas side was blind sided by this if the wheels have been in motion on this well before today.

His ceiling was higher at the position he really wasn’t interested in playing. I’m not saying he isn’t a loss, I’m just saying Texas will be fine. Also Bru leaving won’t stop Texas from recruiting Cali/West Coast. You still have a pretty capable spokesman in DGF.

He’s house money IMO because he wasn’t even in the equation until USC completely mishandled the Kingsbury stuff. It was a very unique situation.

I guess that the riches of the UT program. We can lose a top ten player with a NFL body and we will be fine. I guess that means we have a bunch of guys to to be play makers this year since that's what Herman said was the offense's number one problem. I was counting for Bru and Jordan to fill those roles.

I don't care if this won't stop Texas from recruiting the West Coast. I cared that they finally pulled a top player out of the state that didn't have Texas ties. I believe since Ricky Williams.

Since he has spent more time at UT then USC, I don't consider this house money. It's money lost.

One big concern I have with all this is how will this affect UTs chances with guys already considered longshots from Cali (Flowe and Wilson)? Does this come out negative on UT (perception wise) or does it actually help in the case of Wilson?

They absolutely were. Not a single person on the Texas beat was aware of this before it was published late Sunday night and from what I was told even guys on the team that are close to him didn’t even know he was unhappy.
Just to clarify, I was talking about the Texas coaching staff. Is that who you mean?

Rivals USC is reporting that Bru has informed Helton he is coming home... My god what a flaky family..
I just heard Jeff Howe on the Horn say Helton may have communicated to McCoy that a scholarship was available. If that's the case USC may have a problem since McCoy hasn't entered the portal yet.

Ok. Agree to disagree then.

The USC side is trying to say there was no tampering, but at minimum someone on McCoy’s behalf was talking to USC.

With that said, I doubt anything comes of this, and there were similar allegations made about Texas when McCoy bolted the first time.

Ppl its obvious that Urban Meyer is about to be the next HC of USC and he’s bringing Bru along with him

Urban Meyer HC at USC? He'll destroy that program or whats left of it. Then he'll claim health problems and retire. Its what he does.

I'm sorry, but Bru sounds like a head case to me. The first change of heart was almost understandable. But this is clear sign of a kid who has too much going on between the ears. I'll leave it at that.

His life has always been regimented, as he said, he was always grinding. Now, he had choices to make, and in my opinion, the first semester is the most difficult.

I recall Lee Jackson’s mom saying he wanted to quit and come home his first semester. She wouldn’t let him because she knew it was best for him.

I think from a public perception the first transfer was understandable. This one appears questionable. May God help him if he decides he wants to transfer again because I don’t know how that will go.

If he transfers to USC, Godspeed. If he doesn’t, Hook’em!.

For certain, I loathe the off season!
