2019 Recruiting Board/Thread

It appears to be happening in real time.. One can only assume there has been some communication between Hookfin and the staff that was not positive.
And again that would be a sharp change from what has been conveyed recently. Going to let things play out a bit here.

Per Suchomel

I just spoke with OL Andrew Coker, who visited Texas this weekend. The Katy Taylor product told me he had a good visit but he has decided that he's going to stick with TCU and sign with the Horned Frogs.
This would make the Hookfin rumor even weirder. If Coker sticks with TCU and the staff passed on Kennedy/Williams then landing Hookfin becomes pretty important.

Doesn't make sense the staff wouldn't like what they see in person with Hookfin when he visited for the WVU game.

Yup. That doesn’t jive with me either. They’ve seen him in person close to a handful of times now so they probably would have ruled him out if they had concerns.

I agree with Daniel; there's something weird going on here. The staff brought in Tommy Kennedy and didn't offer him. They talked with Dawand Jones and didn't offer him. They talked with Jay Williams and didn't offer him. Things fizzled out with Myron Cunningham a while ago. Andrew Coker is sticking with TCU.

Given all that context, backing off on Hookfin--who it seems has been flirting with committing for weeks now--makes absolutely no sense. With regard to Hookfin and Baylor, I'll believe it when I see it.

Cain is down to Texas and Penn State and is torn on his decision. Most likely choosing PSU

I've looked at 2 Baylor boards and didn't see any kind of mention about Hookfin.

I can’t imagine anyone want to go to Penn St over Texas. More power to him if he does. We’ll be fine

Wow.

High school football: Millwood star De'Mariyon Houston's recruitment remains up in the air

Millwood star receiver De'Mariyon Houston was set on signing with Texas on Wednesday to open the early National Signing Day.

He had taken several promotional photos, had visits with the coaches and been to campus. But something changed in the last few weeks.

Texas' interest waned.

Despite being committed since early July, Houston was discouraged. It was time to start over in the recruiting process. One of the state's top recruits re-entered the market.
“It was like they found somebody else or something and they were really trying to push him off,” Millwood athletic director Shannon Hayes said. “He felt like they didn't want him anymore.”

Houston, a 6-foot, 165-pound four-star recruit, remains No. 3 on the most recent update to The Oklahoman's Super 30 rankings of the state's top college football recruits in the 2019 class.

Attempts to reach Houston since his decommitment by The Oklahoman have been unsuccessful.

His recruiting situation remains unclear ahead of Wednesday, but he still holds more than 20 scholarship offers from all over the country, including Alabama and Oklahoma State. Last weekend, Houston visited Minnesota. He was scheduled to visit Alabama soon.

It's been a whirlwind since his commitment changed.

Houston has not been in contact with Oklahoma or OSU. Houston's teammate and close friend Marcus Major Jr. will sign with OU on Wednesday. Their initial hope in the process was to remain teammates.

That isn't entirely off the table just yet, but it's not yet possible.

“I kept telling a lot of coaches if you can get a package deal, they'll go together,” Hayes said. “You get one and you may get the other. I was thinking that may still be an option, but he hasn't gotten an offer from OU.

“But he's got a few people still trying to pull at him, and I'm not too disappointed I don't have to get a burnt orange shirt.”

Ok, insiders what do you have?

On the RBS if no Cain, no Saunders or no Barlow I look lkie to se K. Cumby of Plano get an offer.

Backs like him have a thorn in Texas's side over manu years. You cannot coach speed.

I don't really know what to make of the De'Mariyon Houston story. I don't know enough about the recruiting process, but I would think it'd be understandable if the coaching staff didn't pay as much "attention" to him over the past several weeks. They've got to make sure they get the uncommitted guys on board.

I think it's a bit weird to view that as Texas "losing interest" as he apparently thinks, but again, maybe I'm just ignorant of the whole process.

Looks like Washington told the Missouri staff he's signing with Texas Wednesday.
