2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I'm not going to play down losing White to OU cause' I obviously want him in this class, but are any of you guys slightly worried about him measuring in officially at only 5'11??  Don't typically see LB's under 6'1 or so.
Wasn't Aaron Harris a little on the short side? He did alright.

Was hard to see Eagles get open and not being able to make plays since the USC commit QB was just looking to throw it to his HS and now future college teammate St. Brown.
i don't wanna bash recruits, but his commitment was kinda weird. Will be a great football player though.

The QBs didn't look as sharp as the guys playing in the UA game. All of them made some errand throws

Does Coutre Alexander like Arkansas because of its proximity?  Chad Morris still hasn't hired a DC yet.

We have lots of options remaining up front for DL gets:  Ojomo, Alexander, Carson, Ossai, V. Jackson and also a couple of Louisiana guys in Michael Williams and Devin Winters.
Just heard it was an offer he wanted. And Chavis likely ends up there as DC.

On the LB situation: I'm not too worried going forward in terms of depth. And the staff isn't either IMO. Why? Because otherwise they would have approached the whole situation differently.

AA was our number 1 target here, and we got him. The staff must have felt confident pretty early on, otherwise the would have offered White much much sooner. Yet, there are literally no other offers for the inside LB spots on the table. Bonitto, as the other guy we went after, is as far as I have understood more of an OLB type. Plus, he is pretty lean right now since he has been playing basketball ever since, so would have needed at least one offseason to get in shape. If the staff would be worried about the position, a few other offers would have been offered by now. Yet, they didn't. So I have to assume that the staff feels confident about the depth they have on campus, since we don't see how the guys are performing in practice. I trust Orlando to know what he is doing.

Yessir, that's him
This might sound like BS to a lot of y'all, but I am a firm believer in looking at the hookem when displayed by recruits. If the hand sign isn't firm and upright the recruit isn't fully committed. And in that photo Waddle is putting up a half-hearted hookem. Take the time to watch that in the future before y'all judge me loco.

The timing of White’s offer had nothing to do with confidence. If anything they were overconfident and now they are likely going to miss on him because they wanted to chase guys they weren’t going to get anyway. This is a live and learn moment for the staff because they can only blame themselves for missing on DaShaun.

Some here aren’t worried about LB depth, but Texas isn’t swimming in bodies that can play inside linebacker right now. Particularly Mac. Anthony Wheeler likely will have to play a lot more next year after being phased out a bit this year. Malik is gone this year and Gary Johnson will be after next year. They better hope Dele is ready right now because he is probably going to be thrown into the fire early in his career.

Also, I don’t see Sterns redshirting and don’t think it’s been in cards for him to do so. That kid is getting to the field early and has been one of my personal favorites since he was committed to LSU. Baller shot caller.

Who else did we active recruit at ILB? Only guy that comes to mind is Damon Clark for me. And he was more of a late summer flirt. Don't get me wrong, I think White would be a great fit and a good get, and the staff screwed that recruitment up. But in the case we don't get him (which is highly likely imo) the staff does not seem to be too worried as of now.

You are not going to get me into an argument about his hook'em form  :D  As long as the horns point up, I'm good

I agree Daniel. Staff really shot themselves in the foot for this one

They offered a number of kids at ILB this cycle, but majority of them were OOS kids due to it being a down year in state. I wish they would have pressed harder on a kid like Xavier Peters if they were going to proceed as they did. He ended up at Kentucky and I loved his tape.

They aren’t going to show signs of being worried, but they know what they got at LB going into next year and know they are going to have to plug holes sooner rather than later.
