2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I mean if you think about it, Strong and Herman both had similar resumes coming into Texas. Both had championships with Meyer as coordinators and had success as head coaches coming into Texas. But since Herman has been at Texas before, I think he has a better understanding of how things work in the state. He also has the support of the big money boosters, something Strong never had. I think Herman also inherits a better roster than what Strong had coming in.
/sigh

Yea Herman has a much better roster than Strong inherited?  Atleast the recruiting rankings say so.  Three top 15 classes, two of those were top 10 and yet we could NOT manage ONE winning season in three years and managed to lose to the WORST college football in the country. K-A-N-S-A-S...in year 3!!!!

It must be true because our defense improved from year one under DC guru Strong until his final year, right? Wrong.  His best defense was with all those untalented players Mack Brown left him in year one but it was nightmarish the following 2 seasons.  I remember everyone sitting scared that some school was going hire Bedford away from us after year one with Mack recruits but he was demoted in year 3 with his recruits.

Did Mack Brown or boosters block his view of the practice field when he decided to keep Watson and waste an entire off-season only to get blown away by ND in the season opener? Our School president flew to Tulsa to help Charlie hire an OC so not buying it.

As you can tell I am tiresome of the excuses people throw around with everything from talent to boosters screwing Strong on day one.

Strong screwed himself here.  Bad coaching decisions, bad staff hires, bad clock management, bad game plans, and yes BAD luck with player injuries.  All in all it was bad period.

You are right both Herman and Strong both have similar road to Texas.  If Herman sucks an egg he can move along as well.  My loyalty is to the school not the coach.   Herman is an unknown, true but Strong IMO is well known after 3 years.  Nice guy but bad coach for this school.

This.....file this away in the Posts of the year category.....Excellent job Slimer
Just ready for some football man. I said a while back on here, my brother played at SHSU when Herman and Naiver were on staff their. Said Herman was relentless and intense back then, big time attention to detail and lived and breathed special teams. Said he ran into Naiver not to long ago and said he is intense in just normal convo and acted like he was ready to kick ass just talking to him.

Daniel, is Adeoye buddies with any of the St. Louis area DL guys we have offered like Perkins or Trout? We may need 1 of those guys when it's all said and done. Maybe Drayton can work some of his magic.

Not sure. Haven't heard much on Perkins or Trout lately.

By the way in case you missed it, Cuero TE Bralen Taylor committed to Baylor.
Well, he's no Robert Strait. Had to put this in , I seem to remember Strait was from Cuero and also committed to BU back in the day. He was the RB that they told could have #20 if he came to Texas after asking Earl for the OK.
